Gus Malzahn's UCF lands commitment from 4-star WR Jayvan Boggs to the class of 2025
Four-star wide receiver Jayvan Boggs announced his decision to flip his commitment from Missouri to UCF on Tuesday. This marks the second time he has de-committed from a school, having initially pledged to Ohio State before switching to Missouri.
On June 21, Boggs made an official visit to Missouri, only to decommit on Tuesday. Now, his decision to join the Knights will reunite him with his Cocoa High School teammate, offensive lineman Jaquez Joiner. This commitment also makes the 6-foot, 200-pound Boggs one of the highest-ranked prospects in coach Gus Malzahn's program's history, according to 247Sports.
“Long overdue, I’m staying home!!” Boggs told On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
UCF now has 20 players committed to the 2025 class, which ranks No. 24 in the nation and No. 1 in the Big 12, according to the On3 team ranking. The class is headlined by four-star prospects like Kendarius Reddick, Taevion Swint and Chastan Brown.
Meanwhile, Missouri, now left with 17 committed players for its 2025 class, holds the No. 16 national ranking and No. 9 in the SEC. Despite losing Jayvan Boggs, the Tigers’ class remains robust, with blue-chip prospects like Matt Zollers, Lamont Rogers, Donovan Olugbode, Jack Lange, Daeden Hopkins and Jamarion Morrow.
What does Jayvan Boggs bring to UCF?
247Sports Director of Scouting Andrew Ivins praises Jayvan Boggs' exceptional vision as a key attribute that will make him a nightmare for would-be tacklers. Ivins notes that the prospect should be viewed as a potential zone-coverage beater who is perfectly capable of handling a high volume of targets.
Boggs finished last season with 86 receptions, 1,504 yards and 24 touchdowns, and on average, he racked up 99 yards and 1.5 touchdowns per game. His efforts played a crucial role in the Cocoa Tigers' successful 2023 season, which saw the team achieve a 14-1 overall record and secure its sixth state championship in program history.
In 2022, as a sophomore, Boggs caught 41 passes for 722 yards and six touchdowns.
Jayvan Boggs is rated as the No. 262 overall prospect in the nation, the No. 37 wide receiver in the 2025 class and the No. 33 recruit in Florida, according to On3. 247Sports places him as the No. 42 wide receiver in the class and the No. 44 recruit in the state.
