Haynes King's confidence unshaken ahead of Florida state showdown
Georgia Tech quarterback Haynes King is unfazed by the challenge of facing Florida State in the season opener. Speaking on Thursday, King expressed his team's readiness and confidence.
"We feel confident," he stated. "We’re playing fast right now, doing everything we need to do."
Haynes King's dual-passing and rushing skills made him one of only two quarterbacks of Power Five who throw for at least 2,800 yards, hit 25 TDs, rush for 700 yards, and score at least 10 TDs in 2023. The only other player who did that was Heisman Trophy champion Jayden Daniels.
Florida State’s head coach, Mike Norvell, also praised his own quarterback, highlighting his leadership and commitment both on and off the field.
“I couldn’t ask for anything more from what he’s done from January when he arrived to now,” Norvell said. “A lot of people think all the focus goes on the field. And yes, he’s done that — his preparation, his work. But I mean, I think equally as important, is the work that he’s invested for these guys off the field."
Haynes King might be confident beyond a question, but Seminoles have a tradition of winning, they have a 15-11-1 record against Yellow Jackets. Their most recent meeting in 2022 saw Florida State gaining a sweeping 41-16 win.
