"He gone be better than Luka": Hoops fans compare OTE's Eli Ellis to Luka Doncic following his elite performance

Fans compared four-star point guard Eli Ellis, now playing at Overtime Elite, with Luka Doncic. The Overtime Elite is a league for those seeking to play professionally but still be eligible to get into college.

The South Carolina commit, playing for YNG Dreamerz, exploded for a 55-point performance against RWE on Sunday.

It was almost a triple-double for Eli Ellis, scoring 55 points and having 11 assists, with nine rebounds.

He also made nine 3-point field goals with a 3-point percentage of 52.9%, which got fans comparing him with Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic.

"He gone be better than Luka," predicted one.

"Baby Luka," added another.

"Luka 2.0," one claimed.

Other fans were also in awe of how well Ellis performed during the game.

"He had 23 in the first half he was going wild🫡we left at halftime I knew it was going to get ugly," one said.

Eli Ellis is ranked No. 64 overall in the class of 2025. He's also the No. 10 point guard and the No. 3 player in North Carolina, according to 247Sports. He committed to South Carolina and chose the Gamecocks over Coastal Carolina, Old Dominion, Ole Miss and Texas A&M.

While he stands at 6-0, Eli Ellis has been lauded for his skill, toughness and creativity in basketball. He has been described as an elite shooter who can shoot the ball from anywhere.

Ellis' ability to score is one of the best in high school basketball, according to 247Sports' Eric Bossi. However, Bossi noted that Ellis still needs to grow as a playmaker.

Eli Ellis and YNG Dreamerz still undefeated in OTE

After their win against RWE on Sunday, the YNG Dreamerz have stayed on top of the OTE standings as the only undefeated team in the league. They are 8-0, ahead of the 5-1 Blue Checks and the 5-3 City Reapers, which is led by five-star Arkansas commit Meleek Thomas.

Ellis averages 33.8 points, 8.0 assists and 6.9 rebounds, along with 1.5 steals and 0.3 blocks per game for YNG Dreamerz.

The YNG Dreamerz next face Meleek Thomas and defending OTE champions City Reapers on Dec. 14, which will be one of the most anticipated games in OTE this month.
