"He went after it a 100%": When 4x NBA champ Steph Curry's teacher talked about the player's "artistic side" in high school
Many consider Steph Curry one of the greatest players in basketball. He is a multiple-time NBA champion, NBA MVP, and Olympic gold medalist.
However, the Golden State Warriors revisited what the "chef" was like when he was still in high school, and his teacher says he has an "artistic" side.
Chad Fair, who used to teach the NBA superstar at Charlotte Christian High School, spoke to the Warriors YouTube channel about what he was like when he was younger. Fair taught drama, film, and broadcasting and was the one who introduced Steph Curry to theater.
The former NBA MVP had previously said that Chad Fair kept him "grounded," and the theater teacher talked about how he met the future NBA superstar.
"I had him in an introduction to theater production class and I didn't know who he was," said Fair. "I had no frame of reference for his dad for who he was didn't know his position on campus he was a senior." (1:28-1:50)
He also talked about how dedicated Curry was as a student, especially as he played basketball then.
"What struck me the most about Stephen in the classroom is that it didn't matter that it was a class he could have blown off, it was an elective class, he could have been in but he came in and did things that were maybe even outside of his skill set," the drama teacher explained. "He helped. He did a costume design, did a stage setup for a play, created posters for a play, and he went after it 100%." (2:04-2:22)
Steph Curry is the son of former NBA star Dale Curry and often watched his father play. He eventually played for the Davidson Wildcats before going to the NBA, and the rest is history.
Steph Curry's photography teacher calls him a "gentleman"
In that same video, his school's visual arts director, Eva Crawford, also spoke with the Warriors and was all praises for Curry.
"He was very respectful." she noted. "The word gentleman really comes across, that I remember." (2:30-2:34)
She then added that while the other students struggled with photography as they initially thought it was going to be easy, Steph Curry was able to get it and maintained his composure.
