"He will lead the league in assist one day": Hoops fans react to NBA legend Chris Paul's son Chris Paul II's dunk
Chris Paul's son, Chris Paul II, is receiving praise from fans on social media after showing his ability to dunk in a video posted on Instagram on Sunday. The freshman at Campbell Hall School in California flashed that he could be the next big high school star with his one-handed dunk in practice.
In the video shared by Overtime, the 15-year-old ran from the 3-point arc before going on to dunk and alley-hoop. While it was only practice, that didn't stop fans from praising his ability, with many predicting a bright future for him in the NBA.
“He will lead the league in assist one day. I called it first,” a fan said.
"Bro was catching lobs from his dad on the Thanksgiving hoop session,” another fan said.
The praises kept coming for the teenager, with one even saying he is ready for the NBA right now.
“I’ve seen enough bring him to the Wizards already," another user said in the comment section.
"From State Farm commercials to this,” another fan said.
Chris Paul II following Chris Paul’s footsteps
Even though some overenthusiastic internet users may boast he is already better than his dad, Chris Paul II still has a long way to go before matching or surpassing his father’s achievements.
The older Chris Paul was a sensation in high school.
The San Antonio Spurs star attended West Forsyth High School in Clemmons, North Carolina. During that time, Chris Paul averaged 25.0 points, 5.3 assists and 4.4 steals per game, helping West Forsyth reach the state semifinals.
He was also named the MVP at the National U-17 AAU after leading the Kappa Magic to the title as a junior.
Chris Paul continued in the same vein in his senior year, grabbing headlines for scoring 61 points in a game. He averaged 30.8 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 9.5 apg and 6.0 spg and led West Forsyth to a 27–3 record and the Class 4A Eastern Regional finals.
Chris Paul’s son, Chris Paul II, will now aim to match or surpass his father’s high school achievements. The good news for him is that he has started on a good note.
In his first game as a freshman on Nov. 23, Chris Paul II helped the Vikings to a 66-42 win over Beverly Hills before going on to beat Pilibos, who were 4-0, 85-59 two days later. The Vikings improved to 3-0 after the win against Pilibos as they defeated Hesperia 101-60 at home on Friday, with Paul recording 14 points and seven rebounds.
