Trayvis, a sophomore wide receiver for Effingham County High School in Springfield, Georgia, recorded 496 receiving yards and six touchdowns in his nine-game season, according to MaxPreps.

His impressive performance caught the attention of college programs, and on Monday, he received his first scholarship offer from Tennessee State University, where College Football Hall of Famer Eddie George serves as coach.

Not long after, Trayvis received another significant offer—this time from Jackson State University. It was at Jackson State that Travis, his older brother, played alongside Shedeur Sanders under the leadership of Deion Sanders before Sanders’ move to Colorado.

While at Jackson State, Travis achieved remarkable success, including being a finalist for the Jerry Rice Award, recognizing the top freshman in FCS football.

During his Heisman acceptance speech on Saturday, Travis expressed deep admiration for his younger brother:

“That’s my dawg. I do this for you, bro. We’ve been doing this for a long time. You always next to me. Even the times I didn’t want to take you, my mama made me take you. I’m doing this for you. I’m doing this for all siblings, man. I thank y’all for looking up to me."

Travis Hunter’s historic Heisman victory highlights a remarkable season

Hunter secured college football’s most coveted honor, the Heisman Trophy, on Saturday, cementing his legacy as one of the sport’s most dynamic athletes. Overwhelmed with emotion, Hunter rejoiced, stating:

"I never thought I would be in this position. It's crazy."

Hunter's offensive and defensive skills were head and shoulders above the rest of the Buffaloes. Besides becoming the first two-time Heisman Trophy winner in the history of Colorado, only Rashaan Salaam had done it in 1994.

Travis Hunter amassed 552 first-place votes and 2,231 points in total, narrowly edging Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty, who finished with 309 first-place votes and 2,017 points. Sanders expressed pride, stating:

"He wants to be great at everything. He wants to have a commitment to excellence in everything he does -- including fishing."

This marked the closest Heisman race since 2009, when Mark Ingram edged out Toby Gerhart. Hunter’s 80.14% of possible points ranks as the 11th highest in the award’s history.

Notably, Hunter joined Michigan’s Charles Woodson (1997) as the only primarily defensive player to win the Heisman. This year’s Heisman race broke recent trends, with quarterbacks Dillon Gabriel (Oregon) and Cam Ward (Miami) placing third and fourth, respectively.
