Hollis Davidson recommitted to the Auburn Tigers

Hugh Freeze's Auburn lands commitment from three-star prospect Hollis Davidson to the class of 2025

Hollis Davidson from Georgia's Peachtree City McIntosh High School announced his recommitment to Hugh Freeze-led Auburn on the morning of the Fourth of July. The 6-foot-6 tight end first committed to Auburn back in early February before de-committing in May.

Davidson tweeted in May about his de-commitment from Auburn, stating that it was too early for him to lay out his college plans. After his de-commitment from the Tigers, Florida State became the favorite to sign the tight end. However, Florida State signed another tight end, leading Davidson to reconsider Auburn.

According to On3, Davidson is the 25th-best tight end in the country and is the No. 450 overall prospect. He is also ranked as the 50th overall prospect in Georgia.

There were multiple schools in the running to acquire Davidson, including Florida, Tennessee and Miami. However, the three-star recruit has now pledged to play for the Auburn Tigers next season.

Hollis Davidson spoke about his recruitment process and mentioned Auburn's tight ends coach, Ben Aigamaua, and offensive analyst, Logan Bradley.

"They’re both great," Davidson told On3. "Those are my guys. I love Coach Ben and Coach Logan. I really couldn’t ask for more. I really like how Coach Ben is like a family man. He wants to take me under his wing. He gets along with my family really well."

The tight end revealed that his recent visit with his high school team for a 7-on-7 tournament in Auburn made it difficult for him to attend OVs with other schools, but he wanted to be at Auburn regardless.

"After my de-commitment, I just really opened up things again and took a step back," Davidson said. "We got invited up to the 7-on-7 and it was going to interfere with one of my OV’s, but we figured it out because I wanted to get back to Auburn."

Hollis Davidson became the Auburn Tigers' first commit in July. The team's head coach, Hugh Freeze, is confident of having a top-five class for next year.
