"I committed when I did for a reason": Four-star QB commit Brady Edmunds celebrates Ohio State's championship glory

Maliha

Four-star quarterback Brady Edmunds set some ambitions for himself in sixth grade, which also included committing to Ohio State. Last month, he made that dream a reality by pledging to the Buckeyes, and that turned out to be one of the best decisions in his football career with the Buckeyes' national championship win in the 2024 season.

Ryan Day’s team claimed its first title in a decade with a 34-23 triumph over Notre Dame in Monday’s national championship game. Following the victory, Edmunds shared his excitement on X, posting:

"I committed when I did for a reason, I believed!!! NATIONAL CHAMPS!!!! #GoBucks"

The Buckeyes controlled much of the game and outgained Notre Dame 445 yards to 308. Reflecting on the win, Day told NBC News:

"It wasn’t like at the end of the year we were broken, it wasn’t that way. We had an awful day. I don’t know how else to describe it. We had an awful day, and we just said we could never do that again, and I think it’s the job of the head coach to take the responsibility when something goes bad like that."

Ohio State’s championship run was historic, as the Buckeyes became the first two-loss national champion in 18 years. Their losses included a 32-31 defeat to Oregon on Oct. 12 and a narrow 13-10 loss to bitter rivals Michigan on Nov. 30.

The redemption story was particularly sweet after the Buckeyes’ 2023 season ended in disappointment, with a 30-24 loss to Michigan keeping them out of the playoff race as the Wolverines went on to win the national title. So the 2024 season was more than a bounce-back, and the expectation is that the success will be continued next season as well.

Brady Edmunds raves about Ohio State's wide receiver room

Brady Edmunds picked Ohio State over programs like Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State. One of the major reasons behind his commitment decision was the Buckeyes wide receiver room.

"They have the best receiving corps in the nation, so it’s a quarterback’s dream to be there right now," Edmunds told On3 following his commitment. "I think there’s no better option for me.”

Edmunds is the No. 2 quarterback in the 2027 class, according to On3. The Buckeyes cycle also has four-star athlete Jamier Brown locked in beside him.
