"I don't have a leader": 5-star prospect Jaime Ffrench on his decision to commit amid Ohio State and Texas rumors
Jacksonville Mandarin wide receiver Jaime Ffrench is yet to make his commitment decision. However, the five-star athlete told On3’s Chad Simmons that he would announce his commitment on August 30, his mother’s birthday.
For a while, Texas seemed to have the upper hand in Ffrench's recruitment, which is also working to lock in five-star pass players: Dakorien Moore and Kaliq Lockett. Ffrench even declared Texas his top choice, but a recent official visit to LSU gave him a change of heart.
The five-star was impressed by LSU's offensive scheme and built a strong bond with coaches Cortez Hankton and Joe Sloan. Now, LSU, Ohio State, Tennessee, Miami, and Texas all have an equal chance of getting his commitment.
“I don’t have a leader,” Ffrench said (via On3). “LSU changed it, they made it competitive. But those one-two-three schools, everybody is in right now. It’s very back open right now.”
Jaime Ffrench is ranked as the No. 23 player nationally, the No. 5 wide receiver, and the No. 4 player in Florida, per the On3 Industry Ranking. He is the No. 25 player nationally, the No. 4 wide receiver, and the No. 3 player in Florida, according to 247 Sports. He was also named 'Alpha Dog' of the National Combine by 247Sports this year.
Ffrench caught 62 receptions for 1,247 yards and 14 touchdowns in his junior year, leading Florida to the 4M title. He recorded 44 catches for 671 yards and five touchdowns in his sophomore year, helping the Mustangs make the playoffs. As a freshman in 2021, he recorded 116 yards and 2 touchdowns on 8 catches.
Jaime Ffrench's upcoming official visits
Jaime Ffrench is scheduled to tour Miami this weekend and has additional stops planned at Tennessee on June 14 and Texas on June 21. He is not planning to revisit Ohio State before his commitment date, but he intends to visit Columbus post-announcement.
The five-star player will enjoy a break in July, and intends to utilize the remainder of the summer to carefully weigh his options. He made it clear that a 'family-oriented' environment would be the main criterion in his commitment decision.
Jaime Ffrench has also been actively participating in the OT7 Championship in Tampa, where several blue-chip prospects from the 2025 and 2026 cycles have gathered. He recorded a minimum of four incredible touchdowns on the day (via On3).
