"I’m trying to make some things happen": Carlos Boozer's son Cameron Boozer on helping Jon Scheyer recruit for Duke Blue Devils

When it comes to recruiting talented players, Duke Blue Devils coach John Scheyer has been on a tear, recently getting commitments from Cayden and Cameron Boozer, the Boozer twins. The twins are sons of former NBA All-Star Carlos Boozer. Before that, Scheyer also landed Cooper Flagg, the No. 1 recruit from the Class of 2024 and the possible No. 1 draft pick in next year's NBA draft.

However, even with Duke's recruiting already in overdrive, Blue Devils commit Cameron Boozer is saying he will be helping the school out in recruiting other players.

The No. 2-ranked prospect from the Class of 2025 sat down with Rivals soon after his team, the Columbus Explorers, won their Border League matchup against AZ Compass on Friday. There, he revealed what he felt after choosing Duke over Miami.

“I mean, with the schools we were considering, it was a situation where you just couldn’t go wrong with whatever you chose,” Cameron said in the interview. “Miami will always have a piece of my heart, but Duke is just so amazing in so many ways. I know that’s where I’m supposed to be for sure. I’m happy that it’s over.”

He also teased that he is already trying to convince other players to pick Duke and helping out Jon Scheyer with recruiting other stars. He was then asked who he had been trying to recruit, but Cameron Boozer said it was still a secret for now.

“I’m gonna keep it undisclosed for now,” he said. “I’m trying to make some things happen, though. I’m working.”

The five-star power forward led Christopher Columbus High School to a 2-1 record during the Las Vegas leg of the Border League, considered the most important preseason high school basketball tournament in the country.

Cayden and Cameron Boozer committing to Duke shows Jon Scheyer's effectiveness as a recruiter

The Duke Blue Devils' recruiting has been on overdrive as of late, and the one behind the school's recent recruiting success is coach Jon Scheyer, who kicked off his spate of recruiting successes last year by getting the commitment of No. 1 prospect Cooper Flagg.

Scheyer had plenty to prove, especially as he is the first Duke coach after coaching legend Mike Krzyzewski left. However, he has more than proved himself on the recruiting end because he followed up the recruitment of Flagg with other high-profile five and four-stars, including No. 4 Khaman Maluach, No. 13 Isaiah Evans, No. 18 Kon Knueppel and No. 21 Patrick Ngongba II.

He then kicked off this year with Cayden and Cameron Boozer. Time will tell how the team plays on the court.
