"I'm used to it at this point": Alijah Arenas' trainer shares reaction to his hooping display following a recent triple-double performance
Alijah Arenas, the son of the three-time NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas, had another stellar performance as he helped Chatsworth (California) High School to a 68-59 victory against the Sherwood Bowmen on Monday in the Capital City Classic.
On X on Tuesday, his trainer and director of basketball at Core Prep Academy, Zach Becerra, shares a highlight of Arenas getting away from two defenders, dribbling the ball through the legs of a third defender and dodging a fourth defender to finish a tough layup.
"I'm used to it at this point 🤣," Becerra captioned his story.
The 6-foot-6 shooting guard has offers from top programs, including UCLA, Arizona, Fresno State, Washington State, Nevada, New Mexico, Kansas and UTEP.
After reclassifying to the 2025 Class from 2025, Alijah Arenas, a five-star prospect who is ranked No. 15 overall by ESPN, appeared in a YouTube video uploaded by Tarek Fattal on Dec. 4 to talk about his reclassification.
"It's just exciting like I'm just kind of like ready for it," Arenas said (Timestamp: 1:11). "I know what I'm expecting, so I'm just here, like, kind of just ready to take all the hits and then just move forward and keep doing what I'm doing, is the biggest thing, like, for me.
"Nothing is really going to change, but just going up so I know what I was expecting going up. I'm not just making the decision and not know what I'm doing."
Arenas is averaging 25.3 points, 9.7 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.7 steals per game this season. Last season, he averaged 33.0 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 2.9 apg and 1.3 spg.
Alijah Arenas also said that he doesn't have one school in mind.
"Not much of a dream school, it's just more of like kind of like I know I feel like that's for everybody, like, what piques your interest," Arenas said (Timestamp: 1:37). "For me, haven't really discovered that, really looking into it though."
