"I’ve seen murder interrogations go smoother": Fans react to Tua Tagovailoa’s remarks about ex teammate Teddy Bridgewater’s HS coaching stint
Tua Tagovailoa recently shared his thoughts on former teammate Teddy Bridgewater's impressive coaching run at Miami Northwestern High School. Bridgewater, a former NFL quarterback, is now just one victory away from clinching the Florida 3A State Championship in his first year as coach.
Leading the Miami Northwestern Bulls to an extraordinary playoff run, Bridgewater's squad has outscored their opponents 228-12 across four games, including two shutouts.
Tagovailoa, acknowledging his former teammate’s achievements, enthusiastically remarked:
"Big shout out to Teddy. Teddy B. Coach Teddy, man. Geez. Big shout out."
Sports Illustrated’s Kyle Mosley highlighted Northwestern’s commanding 40-0 semifinal win over No. 2-ranked Eau Gallie, securing their spot in the championship against Raines. Fans, however, found humor in Tagovailoa’s delivery.
"I’ve seen murder interrogations go smoother than this Tua was praying for the assistant to come get him," a fan said.
"We already won," another remarked.
Here is how other fans expressed their reactions:
Bridgewater’s swift success as a coach is no surprise, given his roots at Miami Northwestern, where he excelled as a four-star prospect in 2011 before choosing Louisville for college.
His NFL career included stints with the Vikings, Saints, Panthers, Broncos, Dolphins, and Lions. Notably, the 2015 Pro Bowler logged over 3,000 passing yards in three seasons and accumulated a 33-32 record as a starter.
With just one game standing between him and a state title, Bridgewater is poised to add another milestone to his illustrious football journey.
Bridgewater and Miami Northwestern chase state title
Bridgewater, in his first year as head coach at his alma mater, has led the Bulls to their first Florida state championship appearance since 2019. Reflecting on his high school playing days, Bridgewater recalled a bittersweet memory:
“When I was a player, we came up a little short,” Bridgewater recalls of the 2008 championship game, where he and his teammates fell just shy of victory, adding, “Now I’m on the coaching side, and the goal is to not let history repeat itself twice.”
While the Bulls had no early signees last season, this year, they have seven players committed.
“It means a lot, especially to the players,” Bridgewater says, adding, “When you see the transition that’s taken place this year, it’s a collective effort.”
The Bulls aren’t the only ones making headlines. The Varsity Bluez G-Girls, led by Traci Young-Byron, have captured attention with their electrifying performances.
“We are that extra surprise, energy, fire, pizzazz, and charisma,” Young-Byron stated.
Team captain J’Dorah Petion added:
“Being who we are — smooth like butter — we’re ready to finish with a championship,”
With the championship game against Raines High School set for Saturday night at Pitbull Stadium at Florida International University, the stakes are high. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
