"I’ve been waiting on this offer": Louisiana WR recruit Kenny Darby on his commitment to Brian Kelly's LSU following visit over the weekend

Kenny Darby, a three-star wide receiver from Airline High School, announced his commitment to the LSU Tigers on Monday. He was sitting on offers from some of the top programs in the country, such as Mississippi State, Louisiana Tech, Tennessee and Texas A&M.

Darby was once committed to Mississippi State, but changed his allegiance and is now a proud Tiger. His first visit came on Saturday, during the Tigers' game against Alabama. Although the Tigers lost the game against the Crimson Tide, they won the commitment of a talented receiver.

Darby spoke about his commitment to the Tigers and claimed that he was "waiting on this for a while."

"It allows me to secure my spot, to plan ahead, and focus on my academic and personal growth without worrying about future uncertainties," Darby told Rivals of his commitment to the Tigers. "It's a great way to set myself up for success and start working toward my goals in a structured and dedicated manner, and I’ve been waiting on this offer for a while now."

The three-star receiver from Bossier City, Louisiana, is ranked No. 450 nationally and is the 71st-best receiver in the Class of 2026, as per On3. He is also the 12th-best overall prospect from the state of Louisiana.

Kenny Darby talked about his relationship with LSU's coaching staff

The LSU Tigers' latest commit, Kenny Darby, received an offer in person from the team's head coach, Brian Kelly, following his visit to Baton Rouge on Saturday. Darby was waiting for an offer from his home state school and he pounced on it the moment Kelly offered him.

He quickly announced his commitment on Monday and spoke about his relationship with the team's coaching staff.

"They came and got me and I went in the office with Coach Kelly and we had a one-on-one conversation, and then he told me I have an offer from LSU," Kenny Darby said, as per The Bengal Tiger. "The relationship has been good. We talk and FaceTime almost everyday."

The 6-foot-0 wide receiver has had a terrific season for the Airline Vikings. He has accumulated 1,489 yards and 22 touchdowns this season while playing in the Vikings' 10 games.

He has been a huge reason for Airline's 10-0 record this season and has also been a defensive player for the Vikings, accumulating eight total tackles.
