"If they aren't wearing Crimson, f**k 'em": Fans react to five-star Alabama WR commit Caleb Cunningham's flip rumors
Five-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham has been a solid commit to Alabama's star-studded 2025 recruiting class, which sits atop the rankings. However, his commitment has come into question after a visit to Oxford on Saturday, where he witnessed the No. 16 Ole Miss’ 28-10 victory over the No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs.
Following the visit, several recruiting experts, including On3’s Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons and 247Sports’ Tom Loy, predicted that Cunningham might flip his commitment from Alabama to Ole Miss.
Cunningham’s commitment to Alabama has been a key piece in the school's 2025 class, which includes several five-star talents. So his potential departure from Alabama did not sit well with many Crimson Tide fans.
"Better stick with the tide or you'll miss some great things ahead.or ride the lane train to Gainesville," a fan wrote.
"Some people are meant to play with Champions and some are not. If they aren't wearing Crimson, f**k 'em!" one wrote.
"Do what he thinks best. Bama will be fine," one wrote.
"I really hope not🙏🏾 we want him here in T-Town🐘," one wrote.
Let's look at more reactions to this discussion:
Despite the uproar from Alabama fans, Ole Miss supporters have been more welcoming.
"Cmon home🔴🔵 @calebcunning13," one wrote.
With the win over Georgia on Saturday, Ole Miss is 8-2. The school has clearly been making a strong push for Cunningham, as this isn’t the first time he has visited. He first set foot in Oxford during Ole Miss’ season opener 76-0 win against Furman on Aug. 31, and he also visited for the Rebels' 26-14 win over Oklahoma on Oct. 26.
Meanwhile, No. 11 Alabama also pulled off a massive 42-13 win over No. 14 LSU on Saturday and improved to 7-2. Alabama also has five-star quarterback Keelon Russell, with whom Cunningham can pair up to form an explosive WR-QB duo, so the program still has some hopes left. However, with less than a month left for national signing day, the push will be hard from Ole Miss' side.
Caleb Cunningham has also received offers from Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, Auburn and many other schools during his recruitment journey.
Caleb Cunningham opens up about his affinity for Ole Miss
Despite being committed to Alabama, Caleb Cunningham's three visits to Ole Miss prove that the Rebels are pursuing him heavily. He himself was vocal about the discussion last month, saying (via BamaOnline):
“I actually feel good about Ole Miss. They haven’t stopped recruiting me since day one and they definitely show that they want me.”
Ole Miss has the No. 19 recruiting class in the country with 18 committed players. The Rebels own commitments from two other wide receiver recruits in the 2025 class: four-star Dillon Alfred and three-star Samari Reed. A potential addition of Caleb Cunningham will boost this receiver room to the next level.
