“It means a lot” — 6-foot-2 2026 safety Jordan Smith expresses excitement about receiving offer from Kalen DeBoer’s Alabama
Jordan Smith, a highly regarded 6-foot-2 safety from the class of 2026, received an offer from Kalen DeBoer’s Alabama program on Tuesday (July 9), sparking immense excitement. Smith, who attends the Houston County High School in Warner Robins, Georgia, is among the top defensive backs in his class.
Even though most of the recruiting websites have not given him a rating, expect that his status will change soon. He received offers from top-tier programs such as Tennessee, Florida State, Georgia and Michigan.
After he visited the University of Alabama, Smith left with an offer from the Crimson Tide, an opportunity he deeply appreciates.
“It means a lot to me,” Smith shared with Touchdown Alabama. “Growing up watching college football, Alabama was always full of great players and coaches, and to have an offer from them means a lot.”
Weighing 180 pounds, the rising junior showcases his prowess on the football field with exceptional anticipation and coverage skills, making significant plays for Houston County’s defense. Smith’s smooth and comfortable movements in coverage highlight his potential and readiness for top-tier college football.
USF was one of the first schools to offer him a scholarship. Further, he holds offers from Georgia Southern, USC, Georgia Tech, Bowling Green, Appalachian State and West Virginia.
Kalen DeBoer's first recruiting cycle proves to be a home run for Alabama
Kalen DeBoer's initial recruiting efforts at Alabama have been impressive, marking him as an outstanding hire after Nick Saban retired. The Crimson Tide is already positioned second nationally for the 2025 recruiting class.
Notably, Alabama, alongside Ohio State, is one of only two programs with over 20 commitments for 2025 and a blue-chip ratio exceeding 60 percent. This surge in recruitment, especially throughout June, has brought nearly 20 four- and five-star recruits to Alabama.
Among the standout summer commits is Dijon Lee, a five-star cornerback projected as one of the top defenders in the 2025 class. Another notable commit is Keelon Russell, a five-star quarterback fresh off consecutive Texas high school state championships and an Elite 11 Finals MVP win in June.
Chuck McDonald, a five-star cornerback from Mater Dei in Santa Ana, California, also joins Alabama’s ranks. Micah DeBose, a towering 6-foot-5, 300-pound offensive tackle, brings physical dominance to the offensive line and is poised to start early in his college career.
Jackson Lloyd, another four-star offensive tackle standing over 6-foot-7, and Michael Carroll, a powerful interior offensive lineman, further bolster the Crimson Tide’s offensive line. Alabama’s three-star recruits include Mal Waldrep, London Simmons and Alex Asparuhov, underscoring Kalen DeBoer's commitment to securing talents in every position.
