"It means a lot to me and to my decision": Four-star EDGE Tobi Haastrup shares excitement about recent Oregon offer
Four-star prospect Tobi Haastrup is one of the top uncommitted edge rushers in the country's 2025 class. This week, Dan Lanning's Oregon made its move to secure his commitment by offering him a scholarship.
Haastrup shared the news on X:
"Blessed and honored to receive a d1 offer from Oregon. God Bless the Ducks💪🏾@oregonfootball."
Speaking with Scoop Duck, Tobi Haastrup opened up about the Oregon offer:
"It means a lot to me and to my decision from the fact that Oregon is a great program and has a great game."
Haastrup, originally from London, is a late-blooming talent, as he has only started playing American football ahead of his senior season. Despite his relatively recent introduction to the sport, his development has been impressive.
Haastrup is now the nation's No. 281 overall player, the No. 39 player from Texas and the No. 30 edge in the On3 Industry Rankings ranking.
Oregon is undefeated with a 9-0 record and 6-0 in the Big Ten, which offers a strong selling point for Haastrup. The school's 2025 class also looks promising with five-star prospects like Dallas Wilson, Dakorien Moore and Trey McNutt.
Tobi Haastrup visited Florida State last weekend
Florida State offered a scholarship to Tobi Haastrup in September, and he visited during the Seminoles' 35-11 loss to North Carolina last weekend. The school has yet to secure an edge rusher commitment for its 2025 class, making Haastrup a key target.
Speaking with Noles247 following the visit, Haastrup shared insights into how Florida State envisions him on the pitch:
“They play two defensive ends and because of my speed right, they see me playing to the field basically but that can also change because the way the two defensive ends play, they play the same."
Despite Florida State's current struggles, with a 1-8 record for the season, Haastrup said that his decision will not be swayed by the team's performance. Instead, he wants to focus on the potential for development at the school he ultimately chooses. He also received a personal message from the Seminoles coach, Mike Norvell.
“He wants me,” Haastrup said. “Because he knows that FSU is a developmental program. That he definitely feels like I can advance, grow and reach my max potential. He definitely sees me as someone who can be as great as Jared Verse.”
Florida State's 2025 class ranks No. 23 in the nation with 11 committed players. The cycle witnessed the decommitments of six highly-rated prospects in this poor season, and Tobi Haastrup’s potential commitment can boost its defensive line.
