"It motivates us & pushes us hard": Four-star Auburn RB commit Alvin Henderson optimistic despite Tigers' winless SEC record
Four-star running back Alvin Henderson remains one of the highest-rated prospects in Auburn's 2025 class. He had initially pledged to Penn State in the spring and later flipped to the Tigers on June 21.
Henderson was in Auburn this Saturday for an official visit as the Tigers played against Oklahoma. Despite being statistically superior heading into the game, Auburn suffered a narrow 27-21 loss, dropping to 2-3 on the season and remaining winless in the Southeastern Conference.
Though seeing his future school failing is a tough experience, Henderson keeps his trust in Hugh Freeze's program. Rather than being discouraged by the team's performance, he sees it as an opportunity for growth, according to 247 Sports' Christian Clemente.
"Seeing a season like this right here and also the other 2025 commits, it motivates us and pushes us hard so that all the early enrollees that are coming in December will be ready to work."
Besides being able to explore his potential under pressure, the 5-foot-9, 195-pound Henderson also recognizes his potential to make an immediate impact once he arrives on campus.
"I feel like if you’re a guy in 2025 you know that you can come in here and play early," Henderson said, according to On3's Jeffrey Lee.
Besides his on-field ambitions, Alvin Henderson has taken an active role in Auburn's recruiting efforts. He, alongside five-star edge rusher commit Jared Smith, is working hard to flip elite Notre Dame quarterback commit Deuce Knight to join Auburn’s 2025 class

The Elba Tigers, sitting at 4-2 after Week 6, owe much of their success to star running back Alvin Henderson. It defeated the Goshen Eagles 48-34 on Friday, and Henderson rushed for 344 yards and scored four touchdowns, averaging 13.2 yards per carry. This also marked his 20th consecutive game with at least 165 rushing yards.
In Week 3, despite a shocking 80-78 loss, Henderson set Alabama state records by rushing for 435 yards and scoring 10 touchdowns, breaking the records for both single-game touchdowns and points with 66. He followed that performance with another dominant showing on Sept. 13, rushing for 354 yards and seven touchdowns in a 68-28 victory over Kinston.
Alvin Henderson was named Alabama’s Class 1A Back of the Year for the second straight season last year and is on pace to repeat that honor. Through six games this season, he has already amassed 2,002 rushing yards and 33 touchdowns. Elba will head out to challenge Red Level on Friday and expect another explosive performance from this Auburn commit.
