"It’s a top school for me, no doubt": Four-star EDGE Jackson Ford talks about Michigan’s growing influence in his recruitment

Four-star edge rusher Jackson Ford, also known as Jackson Samuels Ford, is one of the top recruits in Pennsylvania. The standout prospect from Malvern Prep High School in the 2026 class received an in-school visit from Wolverines defensive line coach Lou Esposito last week, which gave Sherrone Moore's program an edge in his recruitment.

“I love Michigan," Ford told On3's EJ Holland. "My parents love Michigan. It’s a top school for me, no doubt.”
"We’re big fans of coach Espo,” Ford added. “He’s down to earth. He’s a realistic guy. He doesn’t tell you anything he doesn’t believe wholeheartedly. He’s very honest. My parents really like him and the Michigan program. They are big fans of what they are building there.”

Since taking on his role last year, Esposito has been visiting multiple recruits to build relationships.

Michigan has two commitments for the 2026 class: cornerback Brody Jennings and wide receiver Jaylen Pile. If Ford commits, he has the potential to be the Wolverines' next big name this cycle. According to On3, Penn State leads his recruiting with a 43.1% likelihood of winning his pledge, while Michigan has a 9.5% chance.

Jackson Ford is set to visit Michigan for spring practice

Jackson Ford was on campus for Michigan’s 27-24 win over USC on Sept. 21, which gave him an up-close look at the Wolverines’ defense. He revealed to Michigan recruiting insider Aidan Sen that he intends to return for a visit during the program's spring practice.

Ford plays both edge rusher and tight end, but he is expected to focus on defense moving forward, where he could be a strong fit. According to 247Sports' Andrew Ivins, he shows good athleticism on the corner, as he has the caliber of bending and changing directions.

Ford is the No. 19 edge rusher in the 2026 class and the No. 6 recruit in Pennsylvania, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. Besides Michigan, he is also planning visits to Indiana, Penn State, Rutgers and Wisconsin.
