“It's just the beginning” - Oregon QB Dillon Gabriel shares snippets from weekend at alma mater Mililani High School

Oregon Ducks quarterback Dillon Gabriel recently spent a weekend reconnecting with his alma mater, Mililani High School. This visit was more than a nostalgic trip; it was an opportunity to inspire students and athletes, share insights from his journey and affirm his commitment to giving back to the community.

Gabriel shared moments from his visit on social media. His posts highlighted his participation in a high school game, motivational talks with the football team, and meetings with coaches and teachers who helped him in his development.

"What an amazing weekend," Gabriel captioned his Instagram post. "It’s just the beginning of what we are building back home at my alma mater Mililani High School! Can’t express how thankful I am for the experience I had."

Utilizing his NIL earnings, Dillon Gabriel has raised over $250,000 for Mililani High School and partnered with brands like Nike and Guardian Caps to donate equipment.

During a previous visit, he hosted the "I'm Inspired" event, unveiling new Nike football jerseys and full uniform equipment, attracting nearly 500 attendees. Over the past three years, Gabriel has consistently supported Mililani High, raising substantial funds.

Reflecting on his contributions, Gabriel told ESPN:

"That's what makes me emotional. Being once that kid who wanted to play at the next level with your teammates is priceless. I want the same for all these kids, for Mililani and the island."

Dillon Gabriel steps in as Oregon Ducks' new quarterback

This offseason, the Oregon Ducks saw quarterback Bo Nix depart for the NFL, being selected by the Denver Broncos with the No. 12 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Replacing him at Oregon is Dillon Gabriel. Gabriel transferred from Oklahoma to Oregon and leads the Ducks' QB room in experience, as well as leading all returning passers in QBR.

While exploring his options in the transfer portal after beginning his career at UCF, Gabriel was drawn to Oregon’s roster.

"I knew the opportunity," Gabriel told Registerguard.com. "It was really a no-brainer. With everyone coming back and knowing what was coming in as well, it was a no-brainer."

Dillon Gabriel is excited to work with Oregon’s offensive coordinator, Will Stein, and head coach, Dan Lanning. He praised Stein’s track record:

"It's a proven concept. Being here and seeing all the guys that have done what they've done. ... It's how do you continue to get ahead of the chains and score a bunch of points. They've been able to do it."

In more than 50 college games, Dillon Gabriel has accumulated 14,865 passing yards, 125 touchdowns, and 26 interceptions, along with 1,060 rushing yards, 26 rushing touchdowns, and one receiving touchdown.
