Kalen DeBoer’s Alabama recruiting suffers huge blow as 5-star WR flips amid Ole Miss rumors
Five-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham flipped his commitment from Alabama to Ole Miss on Wednesday, according to On3. He initially committed to the Crimson Tide in July, but the Rebels managed to sway him, delivering a surprising blow to the program.
The 6-foot-3, 190-pound receiver from Ackerman, Mississippi, attended Ole Miss' upset win over Georgia on Saturday, a visit that ultimately led the five-star recruit to change his decision.
With Cunningham’s flip, Alabama has lost a top five-star recruit, leaving them with 22 commitments as they enter the final stages of recruitment. The Crimson Tide still boast multiple five-star recruits, including Keelon Russell and Dijon Lee.
Cunningham is ranked as the No. 17 overall prospect and is the second-best wide receiver in the Class of 2025. He is also the best overall prospect from Mississippi.

Caleb Cunningham, the latest Ole Miss Rebels commit, has received high praise from Choctaw County (Ackerman) football coach Dillon Mitchell.
"He demands a ton of attention," Mitchell said last month via Tuscaloosa News. "You got to design plays with him getting (the ball) and then also him forcing the defense to react to him going across the formation and wherever he’s lined up."
In his junior season, he recorded 48 catches for 1,138 yards and 14 touchdowns. Cunningham will look to bring more of his dynamite play to Ole Miss next season.
Caleb Cunningham became the Rebels' 20th commitment in the Class of 2025, per 247Sports. The Rebels' recruiting class is ranked No.16. They have landed top prospects such as Ladarian Clardy, Cortez Thomas and Andrew Maddox, among others.
The Rebels are having a good 2024 season, which has immensely helped their recruiting process. They boast an 8-2 overall record. They will look to end their regular season on a high as they take on Florida and Mississippi State in the final two games.
