"Keelon Russell disrespect has to stop": Alabama fans show their support to five-star commit after his QB stats drop

Five-star Alabama quarterback commit Keelon Russell leads one of the top teams in the country at Duncanville. Alongside five-star plus+ wide receiver Dakorien Moore, the signal-caller has led the Panthers to a 4-0 start.

On3 uploaded a post on X to highlight the performances of five-star quarterbacks for their respective high schools and Russell's name was featured. He has racked up 1,415 yards and 19 touchdowns against just one interception through the air, while adding 125 rushing yards and a touchdown.

However, many fans felt that Russell should have been ranked a five-star plus+ prospect, especially after his dominant performance in Duncanville’s 63-14 win over Skyline on Sept. 27. He accounted for five touchdowns, completing 27 of 32 passes for 474 yards.

"Look I have watched Keelon Russel face the elite of the elite in Texas football. He should be 5 star plus as well," one wrote.

"The Keelon disrespect has got to stop," one wrote.

Some fans compared Russell favorably to other elite quarterback recruits like Bryce Underwood, Tavien St. Clair and Julian Lewis.

"Keelon Russell is smoking both the 5 ⭐️+ QB’s @On3Recruits," one wrote.

"Keel on the best Qb in the country," one wrote.

"Russell the best QB on this list and it aint even close and also plays against elite competition," one wrote.

Underwood and St. Clair are listed as five-star plus+ quarterbacks by On3. Underwood has completed 61 of 83 passes for 1,043 yards, 17 touchdowns, and one interception. St. Clair has thrown for 1,244 yards with 15 touchdowns but has three interceptions.

Keelon Russell hypes up Alabama's win over Georgia

Keelon Russell has remained committed to Alabama since flipping his pledge from SMU in June. He is part of Alabama's 2025 class and regularly hypes the team on social media.

Last weekend, Russell joined fellow five-star recruits, including offensive tackle Ty Haywood, cornerback Dijon Lee and wide receiver Caleb Cunningham, to witness Alabama's thrilling 41-34 victory over Georgia at Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Following the win, Russell uploaded a spirited post on X:

"DONT GIVE A PISS ABOUT NUN BUT THE TIDE BABY‼️🐘🐘Bama fans wya!#RollTide."

Alabama's 2025 class features other five-star prospects, including offensive tackle Ty Haywood, cornerback Dijon Lee and wide receiver Caleb Cunningham. The program ranks No. 2 in the nation in the 2025 recruiting class and No. 1 in the Southeastern Conference.
