"Keep your eyes on Micah DeBose": Ohio State commit Tavien St. Clair hints at flipping Alabama pledge of 2025 class OT

Ohio State already has the top spot in the 2025 class with 25 committed players, headlined by five-star quarterback Tavien St. Clair. Joining the signal-caller are other elite prospects, including five-star cornerbacks Devin Sanchez and Na’eem Offord, as well as linebacker Riley Pettijohn.

The Buckeyes faced a blow when Alabama's offensive tackle commit, Micah DeBose, chose the Crimson Tide over them. But St. Clair remains optimistic about the possibility of flipping DeBose’s commitment.

"Keep your eyes on Micah DeBose," St. Clair told 247 Sports. "I've been working on him. Be ready for that. We got some things cooking."

At Rivals250 Camp in June, DeBose was seen wearing OSU gear and even participating in the O-H chant. Some fans think that a flip from Alabama to Ohio State might be on the way, and Tavien St. Clair is also leaving no stone unturned to make that happen.

"I talk to him every other day," St. Clair said. "I try to give him a break every once in a while because I talk to him a lot. I let him know, 'This is home for you.' He loved it on his visit. So, I'm just trying to talk him into coming here and blocking for me."

Earning DeBose's commitment will be another big boost to Ohio State's 2025 class. Coaches have drawn comparisons between him and former NFL star Willie Anderson. He is ranked by the On3 Industry Rankings as the No. 153 overall prospect in the nation, the No. 18 interior offensive lineman and the No. 12 prospect in Alabama.

Besides football, Micah DeBose also excels at basketball and competes in track and field.

Tavien St. Clair shines in the season opener game

Friday night marked the start of high school football across Ohio, and Tavien St. Clair of Bellefontaine High School led his team to a 48-27 victory over Sidney in the season opener. The signal-caller accounted for five touchdowns, three of which were through the air and two on the ground.

St. Clair’s performance was a continuation of his offseason, where he was named MVP of his position at the Rivals Five-Star camp just a month ago. Bellefontaine coach Jason Brown expressed confidence in his star player and said that the team is rallying around its quarterback’s success.

Last season, the signal-caller was named to the Division III All-Ohio first team after completing 70.6% of his passes for 3,983 yards and 37 touchdowns, while also adding 352 rushing yards and four touchdowns.

Tavien St. Clair is tabbed by the On3 Industry Rankings as the No. 2 overall prospect in the nation, the No. 2 quarterback in the 2025 class and the No. 1 recruit in Ohio.

St. Clair and Bellefontaine will face stiff competition from teams like Westerville Central and Jonathan Alder in the upcoming games.
