Three-star defensive lineman Jayden-Jamal Hanne committed to Georgia's 2025 class on Monday. He moved to the United States from Germany two years ago and is now gearing up for his third season at Santa Margarita Catholic in Rancho Santa Margarita, California.

Hanne's journey to American football was facilitated by Brandon Collier of PPI Recruits, an organization dedicated to helping foreign-born athletes find opportunities in the United States. Since earning a scholarship offer from coach Kirby Smart's Georgia on May 30, he has visited the program three times, including attending a summer cookout with the Bulldogs.

“I feel pretty good about my decision, I’m glad that it’s done,” Hanne told On3 about his commitment decision. “The recruiting process is a very stressful thing, especially in front of a big senior year. Having that out of the front of my mind is really a weight off my shoulders.”

Hanne follows in the footsteps of other German natives who have transitioned from playing defensive line at Santa Margarita Catholic to college football, such as Hero Kanu and Maurice Heims.

Jayden-Jamal Hanne is the nation’s No. 69 defensive lineman in the 2025 class and the No. 63 recruit from California, according to On3. 247Sports ranks him as the No. 138 defensive lineman in the 2025 class and the No. 105 recruit from California.

Standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing 280 pounds, Hanne has proved his dominance at various camps across the country this summer. Initially a soccer player before transitioning to football, he has the potential to develop into a formidable interior defender for the Bulldogs.

Why did Jayden-Jamal Hanne commit to Georgia?

Jayden-Jamal Hanne chose Georgia over Texas, Alabama, Florida, Nebraska, UCLA and Oregon, among others. In an interview with On3, he shared the reasons behind his decision:

"The main reasons that I committed to Georgia was the culture and brotherhood. I love the culture that they have at Georgia. The brotherhood they have and the relationship with coach Scott and the rest of the staff is great too."

Hanne was also impressed with the overall balance of the Bulldogs and said:

"They are all about the work and efficiency — when it’s time for business, it’s all business, but they also are able to have fun while doing it. When I think of Georgia, I think about a program that will push you to be the best version of yourself."

Georgia's defensive line coach, Tray Scott, played a big role in Hanne's recruitment. Scott's passion for the game and his dedication to his players stood out to Hanne.

With Jayden-Jamal Hanne's commitment, Georgia adds its 22nd pledge for the class of 2025. He joins a formidable defensive line group, including edge rushers Isaiah Gibson and Darren Ikinnagbon and defensive linemen Christian Garrett and Stephon Shivers.
