Kirby Smart strengthens Georgia Bulldogs' recruiting class with the commitment of talented 4-Star Wide Receiver
Vance Spafford, a four-star wide receiver, announced his commitment to the Georgia Bulldogs on November 5, 2024. The Mission Viejo receiver had a lot of suitors, including the likes of Oregon, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Florida, Auburn and Washington, but chose the Bulldogs over all these programs.
Spafford's visit to Georgia was a turning point in Bulldogs' recruitment of the four-star prospect. He visited the Bulldogs in October and was impressed by the program's hospitality and approach towards their recruits. Before he visited the Bulldogs, the Ole Miss Rebels were in the hot seat to land Spafford.
"When I went there, obviously, they were already very high board just for being Georgia, but, I’ve been to other places, so I wasn’t thinking I was going to feel the way I felt. I’ve kind of always liked the places I visited, but when I went to Georgia, it was like, it really felt good," Vance Spafford said, as per On3.
The 5-10 receiver is currently ranked No. 73 in the country and is the 13th-best player at his position, as per On3. He is also the 10th-best overall prospect from the state of California.
Vance Spafford talks about his commitment to the Georgia Bulldogs
The Georgia Bulldogs pulled off the signing of Vance Spafford as the four-star prospect pledged his allegiance to the Kirby Smart-led side on Tuesday, November 5. Spafford only took one visit to Georgia and fell in love with the program and its coaching staff.
The Tustin, California, native was in Athens for Bulldogs' game against Mississippi State and decided to commit to the program on his way back home from the game. Georgia's 10-point win might have played a role in Spafford's decision as well.
"Like they say, when you know, you know," the 5-10 receiver said, as per On3. "I definitely felt it right after we left the facility to go home from Georgia. I wanted to take my time because I didn’t want to just react off of emotion... And my feelings kept stable for about three weeks and I was ready to make the move."
Georgia's Class of 2026 is ranked No. 12 in the country, as per 247Sports. The Bulldogs have acquired three commitments so far and are poised to add more in the near future. Apart from Spafford, IMG Academy's Dominick Kelly and Jonesboro's cornerback, Jontavius Wyman have also committed to the Georgia Bulldogs.
