"Kiyan knows his dad couldn’t do anything with Bron": Hoops fans react to Kiyan's comments about him & Carmelo Anthony vs. LeBron & Bronny James
Kiyan Anthony, son of NBA legend Carmelo Anthony, has sparked plenty of conversation among fans with his recent comments. These candid remarks were about a hypothetical 2-on-2 matchup featuring him and his father against LeBron James and his son, Bronny.
During an appearance on Overtime's YouTube channel on Saturday with Jayson Tatum and Carmelo, Kiyan also revealed who he thought would win.
"I think Bron and Bronny would win, to be honest," Kiyan said. "Just because Bron is still in the league. He's still doing what he's doing."
This sparked various reactions from fans, with one saying:
"Kiyan knows his dad couldn’t do anything with Bron. He’s a real one for that answer. Hell, Melo didn’t play any kind of defense in his career, so he wouldn’t be able to stop Bron’s downhill play."
Others were more optimistic, with a fan predicting that Kiyan and Jayson Tatum's son Deuce may one day face off, calling it:
"a flex for JT & Melo."
Here is how others expressed their reactions:
Beyond this playful debate, Kiyan has also shared his admiration for Bronny’s path, especially after the LA Lakers drafted Bronny to play alongside LeBron. Speaking on "7PM in Brooklyn" with Carmelo and The Kid Mero, Kiyan called it "fire" to see a father-son duo like LeBron and Bronny in the NBA.
"It was fire, just to know that he started it and now I got a chance to get to where he's at in the league, that's fire," Kiyan said. "I texted him and everything, we were on the phone like that's really fire. Especially him playing with his pops, that's crazy, that's so crazy to me."
Kiyan, a four-star recruit from Long Island Lutheran in Brookville, New York, is ready for another shot. With schools like Syracuse, USC and Ohio State in his top six, he’s well on his way to the next level.
Kiyan Anthony defends Bryce James: “He deserves more recognition”
As LeBron's youngest son, Bryce James, enters his final year of high school, he’s aiming to improve his standing as a basketball prospect. Though currently ranked 123rd in his class by ON3, many believe he will attract attention from top programs due to his father. However, Kiyan Anthony has a different view.
During an appearance on the "Sloane Knows" podcast, Kiyan was asked to name the most underrated player on the AAU circuit. He chose Bryce, asserting that Bryce's hard work is often overlooked.
“I feel Bryce James could get a little more recognition when it comes to offers and stuff like that," Kiyan said. "Him being who he is, people think everything is given to him but he actually works hard. I feel like he deserves a bit more when it comes to that type of stuff.”
Despite a lackluster performance at the 2024 Nike Peach Jam—where Bryce averaged just 5.6 points, 2.4 rebounds and shot 31.4% from the field—he still has a year to boost his stock. Linked to programs like Ohio State and Duquesne, Bryce has yet to commit but remains determined to prove himself.
