Kyler Murray's High School Stats: Looking back at the Arizona Cardinals QB's incredible career before college and the NFL
Kyler Murray, the starting quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals, is currently eight weeks into his sixth NFL season. The talented quarterback was the Cardinals' No.1 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft and was expected to lead the team to a championship.
Although Murray has not won a Super Bowl yet, he has already accomplished a lot in his football career, starting with his high school days at Allen High School in Texas.
Murray played both football and baseball at Allen. Over his junior and senior years, he amassed 8,384 passing yards and threw 100 touchdowns with just 16 interceptions. Additionally, he rushed for 2,826 rushing yards on 311 carries, scoring 42 touchdowns.
However, the craziest part of all was Murray's high school record. He went undefeated during his entire high school career, winning all 42 games and securing three state championships.
Coming out of high school, Murray was ranked No.36 nationally and was a four-star recruit, per On3. He was the third-best quarterback in the Class of 2015 and was the fifth-best overall prospect from the state of Texas.
Was Kyler Murray the best Texas high school football player ever?
Kyler Murray had a remarkable high school career at Allen High School in Texas. Greg Tepper, managing editor of Dave Campbell's Texas Football, described Murray as one of the best high school football players in Texas history.
"If Earl Campbell played in the social media age it would be similar," Tepper told Sporting News in 2015. "... I don’t feel comfortable saying he is unequivocally the best high school player in Texas high school history. But if somebody else wants to come up and say that I won’t argue against it."
Murray was tied for second place in a survey conducted by The Fort Worth Star-Telegram on the best Texas high school football player ever. Former Texas running back Johnathan Gray received the most votes, while Murray shared second place along with the former NFL running back Cedric Benson.
Murray continued his football career at Texas A&M and later at Oklahoma, where he won the Heisman Trophy in 2018.
