Senior ZaKiyah Johnson was the star of the game. She scored 25 points on 85% shooting alongside six rebounds, four assists and three blocks. Morgan Frey and Riley Gilvin also contributed to the win with 10 and 6 points, respectively. Sacred Heart excelled offensively, shooting 61% from the field, as well as defensively, with eight steals.
Despite Mercy’s struggles to break through Sacred Heart’s defense, the Jaguars finished strong with 14 fourth-quarter points. Sacred Heart solidified its position as a top contender this season with this 72-32 impressive win.
ZaKiyah Johnson’s Commitment with LSU Adds to the Talented Roster
ZaKiyah Johnson is a standout performer for her team, Sacred Heart Academy. She committed to the LSU Lady Tigers on Nov. 3. Johnson, a 6-foot player, ranks 10th overall in the Class of 2025, according to On3.
During her junior year, she averaged 18.9 points, 7.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2.1 steals, leading Sacred Heart to a 31-7 record and a fourth consecutive state championship.
Regarding her choice of LSU over Louisville and Kentucky, Johnson told the Courier-Journal:
“I’ve always kind of been an on-the-go type of person. I like to move around a lot, whether it’s with family or my friends. LSU felt a lot like home, but I know it’s far, so I can be on my own. I’ll be comfortable, but I’ll also have that challenge of taking the responsibility of being on my own and having to do a lot for myself.”
ZaKiyah Johnson’s commitment to LSU adds to the team’s already impressive recruiting class with fellow five-star prospects Divine Bourrage and Bella Hines. The skilled and talented prospects accumulated in the 2025 class are set to position the Lady Tigers for continued success in the coming seasons.
