"Make the move and come HOME": South Carolina EDGE commit Jaquavious Dodd recruits DL Stephon Shivers following his Georgia decommitment
Three-star defensive lineman Stephon Shivers had been committed to Georgia since March. However, he reopened his recruitment last month and officially decommitted from the Bulldogs on Friday.
South Carolina four-star edge rusher commit Jaquavious Dodd grabbed the opportunity to recruit Shivers for the Gamecocks' 2025 class. Dodd retweeted Shivers' decommitment post to welcome him, tagging South Carolina coach Shane Beamer, outside linebackers coach Sterling Lucas, director of recruiting Brandon Middleton and director of player personnel Darren Uscher.
"Make the move and come HOME 👀🏠🤙🏿🐔 @stephon_shivers @GamecockFB @CoachSBeamer @CoachSterlLuc @B_MiddletonSC @DarrenUscher @GCockRecruiting," Dodd wrote.
Shivers was a top performer at the Under Armour Next Series camp in Nashville in April. He has recorded 12.5 tackles, including two tackles for loss so far this season.
Shivers is ranked as the No. 443 overall prospect in the 2025 class, the nation's No. 40 defensive lineman and the No. 14 recruit in Tennessee. His potential addition will be a big boost for South Carolina's 2025 class, which was hit with a blow of three decommitments so far: cornerback Shamari Earls, tight end Preston Douglas and linebacker Jaiden Braker.
South Carolina's 2025 class is left with 21 committed players, ranking No. 20 in the nation and No. 11 in the Southeastern Conference. The cycle features only one defensive lineman commit in three-star Caleb Williams, making Shivers a priority target.
Georgia leads the race for Stephon Shivers' second-time commitment
Stephon Shivers has received offers from Texas, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Oregon, Auburn, Florida, Kentucky and Ole Miss, among others. He will make an official visit to the Gators on Nov. 16 for the LSU game.
Despite his decommitment from Georgia on Friday, the Bulldogs remain in a strong position to re-secure Shivers, with the school holding a 45.8% chance of landing him, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. This puts Georgia in a competitive race with Florida, which has a 30.3% chance.
If Shivers reaffirms his commitment to Georgia, it would boost an already promising 2025 recruiting class for the Bulldogs, which ranks No. 3 nationally and No. 2 in the SEC. Georgia has 24 committed players, including the nation’s top defensive lineman, Elijah Griffin.
Besides Stephon Shivers, Georgia is also trending for another five-star defensive lineman, Justus Terry, who is set to announce his commitment next month.
