Mark Pope’s Kentucky re-offers No. 1 recruit AJ Dybantsa: Report
AJ Dybantsa is the top recruit in high school basketball. The 6-foot-9 small forward is one of the best players at his position in the country and is a generational talent. He has the body of a forward, but he moves like a guard, making plays happen whenever he can.
Naturally, a talent like this will have many suitors. One of them is Mark Pope's Kentucky Wildcats, who reportedly re-offered to sign Dybantsa last week. The No.1 ranked prospect was in Indianapolis during the weekend to participate in the EYBL Session III, and he opened up about the offer during an interview with Kentucky Sports Radio.
"Mark Pope is here (in Indianapolis at EYBL Session III), he told me he’d be here," Dybantsa told KSR. "He called my dad, I hopped on the phone with them and we had a little chat. When we hopped on the call, I received the offer. … I had (John) Calipari first, and now, I’ve been re-offered by Pope."
Pope made his intentions of signing the best players for the program when he was hired as the head coach of the Wildcats.
AJ Dybantsa is a highly sought-after athlete, and other programs have lined up with their offers, most notably Duke, Arkansas and USC. The 17-year-old is expecting more offers after the conclusion of the ongoing EYBL Session III.
AJ Dybantsa dominates alongside Tyran Stokes in the EYBL against UPLAY
The EYBL Session III is underway, and the two top talents in the country, AJ Dybantsa and Tyran Stokes, have joined forces for the Oakland Soldiers. Both these youngsters had a field day against UPLAY on Saturday.
Dybantsa put up 26 points on 8-9 shooting from the field as well as making all of his nine free throws. On the other hand, Stokes made every shot en route to a 25-point performance.
Dybantsa is the top-ranked prospect for 2025, whereas Stokes is the consensus No.1 in the class of 2026. Dybantsa averaged 26.3 points per game in the first EYBL session, whereas Stokes grabbed 9.3 rebounds.
Both Dybantsa and Stokes have generated a lot of interest from various top programs across the country. Programs such as Kentucky, Kansas, LSU, Auburn and Alabama have made their offer to Stokes. Dybantsa has received offers from recognized programs such as Duke, Kentucky, and USC.
