Matt Rhule's Nebraska lands commitment of four-star LB Christian Jones to the Class of 2025
Four-star linebacker Christian Jones committed to Nebraska's 2025 class on Monday night. The prospect from Westside High School in Omaha, Nebraska, chose coach Matt Rhule's Cornhuskers over Missouri, USC, Texas A&M, Notre Dame, Auburn, Miami and USC, among others.
Jones has long been a target for Nebraska, with defensive coordinator Tony White and linebackers coach Rob Dvoracek leading his recruitment for nearly four years. He officially visited the program on June 14.
Johnson made a gameday visit in the Huskers' 40-7 win over UTEP on Aug. 31, and he was also in attendance during the program's 28-10 victory over Colorado on Saturday. After Nebraska’s first 2-0 start since 2016, the prospect became convinced that Matt Rhule's program was the right fit for his future.
“After the Colorado game it felt right,” Jones told On3. “I want to be part of the culture coach (Matt) Rhule is building. Watching the defense play they showed up in a big-time game.”
Despite being in just their second season with Nebraska, White and Dvoracek impressed the 6-foot-3, 220-pound linebacker prospect.
“Coach White, I want to be part of coach White’s system and have coach Rob Dvoracek coach me," Jones said.
Besides the coaching staff, several in-state commits, including Tyson Terry, Caden VerMaas and Pierce Mooberry, played a role in convincing Christian Jones to stay home and represent Nebraska.
What does Christian Jones' commitment mean for Nebraska?
For the third consecutive year, Nebraska has secured the No. 1 overall recruit in the state by earning the commitment of Christian Jones. He is the second linebacker in the Huskers' 2025 class, joining in-state talent Pierce Mooberry.
With Jones on board, Nebraska’s 2025 recruiting class now boasts 19 commitments, ranking 26th nationally. The class also features blue-chip prospects like wide receiver Isaiah Mozee, defensive lineman Malcolm Simpson, running back Jamarion Parker and quarterback TJ Lateef.
So far in his senior season, Jones has recorded 12 total tackles, including six solo tackles, in just two games. In his junior season in 2023, he recorded 55 tackles, nine tackles for loss and one interception while also racking up 20 receptions for 500 yards and nine touchdowns.
Jones is ranked by On3 Industry Ranking as the No. 212 overall prospect in the nation, the No. 23 linebacker in the 2025 class and the No. 1 recruit in Nebraska.
