Michigan Wolverines Recruiting: 4-star forward Winters Grady commits to Dusty May's program over Oregon and Colorado
Dusty May and his Michigan Wolverines have landed four-star recruit Winters Grady from Napa Prolific Prep in California. The 6-foot-6 small forward is the first from the class of 2025 to commit to the Wolverines. He took to X to announce his commitment:
"All in, go blue."
Grady, the No. 56 overall player from the class of 2025, chose Michigan over Oregon, Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Creighton and Iowa. He recently played for the Jalen Green Elite travel program on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit, averaging 19.5 points on 37.0% shooting from behind the 3-point line.
He recently spoke with On3 regarding his commitment to the Michigan Wolverines, stating that the team's program is "100 percent headed in the right direction" now that new head coach Dusty May has taken over.
He was all praises for Coach May, saying that the team's new head coach "knows exactly what he wants in his players." He also praised Michigan's facilities and said that it is "really nice" that they are being renovated.
“Their plan for me is to play in the two/three spot where I shoot the ball, come off dribble hand-offs, and just be the scorer that I am," Winters Grady told On3. "They don’t want to have me change my game to be there and are going to let me be me.”
He had even more praise for Coach May as well.
“I’ve never had a bad interaction with Coach May," he added. “And, every time I’ve been around them all together, the whole staff seems to mesh really well. I think the fit is there purely just because they’ve said they are going to let me be me from day one.”
Basketball insider praises new Michigan Wolverine commit, Winters Grady
Winters Grady is coming to Michigan, and in getting his commitment, the school is getting an excellent spot shooter who can "space the floor and pull gravity to the corners," according to On3 scout Jamie Shaw.
Shaw noted that Grady shined during the Adidas 3SSB Circuit over the summer as he was an effective shooter who knew how to get to his best spots. He also understands team defense and can help defend from the side.
He has also been described as able to make decisive decisions and is able to play with "a lot of confidence." Grady has also shown that he is a very tough player who is not afraid to mix things up and be physical.
