NCAAB insider hints at a staggering $4 million NIL package from BYU for No. 1 recruit AJ Dybantsa
The race to sign No. 1 basketball prospect AJ Dybantsa is on another level. BYU, a top contender for the phenom, may be taking it to a new dimension with a mindblowing NIL package, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.
If he commits to BYU, Dybantsa could earn an NIL deal worth over $3 million, potentially getting as high as $4 million, Nakos reported on Tuesday.
Dybantsa has a decision to make, and the stakes are high.
The 6-foot-9, 210-pound teenager from Utah Prep in Hurricane, Utah, is highly sought after across the country. Not less than 29 offers have come for him, according to 247Sports, and he has made seven official visits. He has visited Alabama, Auburn, BYU, Kansas, Kansas State and USC.
The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine favors BYU with a 41.7% chance to land him. The Cougars are followed by Kansas State at 25.0%; Alabama and North Carolina come next with 17.3% and 4.2%, respectively.
BYU's NIL offer can be decisive in determining the direction Dybantsa takes.
An NIL valuation that high would put him in the conversation of top NIL earners in college sports alongside the likes of Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders. The 17-year-old is already worth $1.9 million in NIL valuation, according to On3, making him the most valuable high school basketball prospect. He has NIL deals with Redbull and Nike.
AJ Dybantsa tightens claim on top HS basketball spot
AJ Dybantsa had the opportunity to show yet again what makes him the consensus No. 1 prospect for the 2025 class. He led Utah Prep to an important Border League victory over the Columbus Explorers, led by none other than consensus No. 2 Cameron Boozer, over the weekend. Cameron's twin brother Cayden also played for the Explorers.
The matchup between the reigning No. 1 and No. 2 lived up to the hype as Utah Prep left with a hard-fought 69-68 victory. As expected, AJ Dybantsa played a fundamental role, scoring 28 points. Cameron, on the other hand, scored 20 points.
Fans got a foretaste of what a rivalry would feel like with the two stars on opposite sides. Cameron with his brother have already committed to the Duke Blue Devils, doing so earlier this month. With North Carolina one of the leading programs recruiting Dybantsa, fans may begin to dream of the two stars on opposite sides of the famous Duke-UNC rivalry.
