Nebraska's 4-star QB commit TJ Lateef reportedly to visit Cornhuskers' matchup against Colorado Buffaloes in September
Four-star quarterback TJ Lateef had been a target for Nebraska quarterbacks coach Glenn Thomas and offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield. The signal-caller was impressed with Thomas’ experience coaching quarterbacks in the NFL and later committed to the Huskers in the spring.
Per On3, Lateef will attend his first game in Lincoln on Sept. 7, when Nebraska hosts Colorado. This matchup will mark a big test for the Cornhuskers, as the program will expect to return to its former national powerhouse status after more than a decade of struggles.
The 6-foot-2, 185-pound prospect represented Nebraska at the Elite 11 event in June. Despite the increased media attention, he remains steadfast in his decision.
“I am committed to Nebraska,” Lateef told On3. “There have been a lot of media trying to call me recently, but I am 100 percent solid to Nebraska.”
Nebraska has 18 players committed to the 2025 class, which ranks No. 30 in the nation. Besides Lateef, the class also features promising players like wide receiver Isaiah Mozee, defensive lineman Malcolm Simpson, running back Jamarion Parker, cornerback Bryson Webber and defensive lineman Kade Pietrzak.
TJ Lateef starts the 2024 season with a bang
TJ Lateef kicked off his 2024 senior season by leading Orange Lutheran to a 21-13 victory over Gardena Serra. He threw for two touchdowns and ran for another. Despite two turnovers, including an interception and a fumble, his ability to bounce back was evident as he completed 18 of 25 passes for 185 yards, achieving a 72% completion rate.
In 2023, Lateef completed 152 of 214 passes for 1,965 yards, throwing 13 touchdowns while also rushing for 230 yards and five more scores. His 2022 campaign was also impressive, with 2,446 passing yards and 18 touchdowns.
The four-star prospect is ranked by On3 Industry Ranking as the No. 346 overall prospect in the nation, the No. 26 quarterback in the 2025 class and the No. 30 recruit in California.
If TJ Lateef continues performing like this and retains his four-star status through signing day, it would mark a huge milestone for Nebraska, as the Huskers will land four-star quarterbacks in back-to-back recruiting classes for the first time in the modern era.
Lateef and Orange Lutheran will face off against Rancho Cucamonga on Friday.
