"Never seen a WR make a DB break dance in the dirt": CFB fans react to Ohio State Buckeyes' WR Jeremiah Smith's brother Angelo Smith's skills
The spotlight has shifted to Angelo Smith, younger brother of Ohio State's star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, as he begins to carve out his path in football. Angelo, a sophomore at Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory in Hollywood, Florida, excels as both a wide receiver and safety.
He recently drew attention with a viral Instagram video that showcased his exceptional speed and agility, leaving his defender scrambling in the dirt.
The clip quickly ignited fan reactions.
"Never seen a WR make a DB break dance in the dirt damn," one wrote.
"Wait till he really learns how to dig into the ground and explode, he gone be a problem," another wrote.
Here are some other fan reactions.
Though still early in his recruitment journey, Smith already holds offers from Miami and Toledo. However, Ohio State has yet to extend an offer to the rising star.
In June, Smith told eleven warriors during Ohio State's summer camp,
“I feel like I'm gonna be a better player than him,” referring to his brother Jeremiah. “I play both sides of the ball. I’m definitely a game-changer.”
“Watching him work, I definitely want to be better than him, I know that,” Angelo added.
He also expressed his desire to play for Ohio State, envisioning it as a legacy if given the opportunity,
“It would just be a legacy. And hopefully, if I have kids, they come here as well, so it'd be great. He taught me so many things that other coaches haven't taught me at the college level. And when your coach knows what he's doing and teaching you, that's gonna separate you from other receivers," Angelo said.
Jeremiah Smith emerges as a standout freshman WR at Ohio State
At the midpoint of the college football season, Ohio State freshman wide receiver Jeremiah Smith is making waves. ESPN ranked Smith as the No. 11 player in the nation and the third-best in the Big Ten.
He is trailing only Oregon’s quarterback Dillon Gabriel and Michigan State's defensive tackle Derrick Harmon. He’s listed behind Alabama's Ryan Williams and Ole Miss’ Tre Harris among wide receivers.
Jeremiah Smith has already earned a spot on the Biletnikoff Award watch list, recognizing the nation's top receiver. He’s recorded 32 receptions for 553 yards and seven receiving touchdowns this season.
In an impressive milestone, Jeremiah Smith became the first player in Ohio State history to score a receiving touchdown in each of the Buckeyes’ first six games.
Smith’s early performance draws comparisons to Marvin Harrison Jr.’s 2023 campaign. After six games that year, Harrison had 31 catches for 604 yards and five touchdowns.
