"Next thing I know, my phone is ringing with a 305 number": Michigan QB signee Bryce Underwood recollects his first call from Tom Brady

Bryce Underwood, a five-star quarterback in the Class of 2025, pledged his allegiance to Michigan in November. He chose the Wolverines after taking a U-turn from his commitment to the LSU Tigers. The Michigan native was heavily recruited by some of the best programs in the country.

Underwood is the best overall prospect in the country and is expected to sign a reported $10 million NIL deal with Michigan. Since signing with the Wolverines, the five-star quarterback has given multiple interviews and has been a major draw in the media.

His most recent interview saw him playing College Football 25 with YouTuber Donald De La Haye, commonly known as "Deestroying," on his "Kickin' It With Dee" podcast on Monday. During the interview, Bryce Underwood spoke about his recruiting process and his flip to Ann Arbor from LSU. He also shed light on receiving a surprise call from the former legendary NFL quarterback, Tom Brady.

"Yeah, I did talk to Tom... It caught me off guard not gonna lie," the five-star prospect said when asked about his interaction with the Michigan alum. "I didn't expect it. Next thing I know, my phone ringing with a 305 number... I swear to god I'm sitting there just looking."

Brady played his college football at Michigan for five years. He had a decent career with the Wolverines and was selected by the New England Patriots in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL draft. Brady went on to win six Super Bowls with the Patriots and ended his career as the winningest QB in the history of the league.

Bryce Underwood attended his first college practice on Dec. 19

Bryce Underwood, the five-star quarterback from Belleville High School, is the country's best overall prospect from the Class of 2025. He signed with the Michigan Wolverines on National Signing Day and took part in his first college practice on Thursday, Dec. 19, before the Wolverines' bowl game against Alabama.

Michigan's starting quarterback, Davis Warren, practiced with Underwood and praised the 6-foot-4 signal-caller.

"Bryce, he’s started to get rolling here with us, and man, he’s a great kid, first and foremost," Warren said, as per On3. "Loves football. You can tell he’s a competitor. Humble, wants to get better... Today was really his first day rolling with us, and he wants to help this team win games, just like I do, just like everybody in this building wants to."

Bryce Underwood chose the Wolverines over programs such as Michigan State, Ohio State and Alabama. During his time in Ann Arbor, he will want to lead Michigan to the Promised Land and etch his name into the program's history books.
