No. 1 recruit AJ Dybantsa gives insight into his recruitment process as the commitment timeline gets closer
AJ Dybantsa is the best high school prospect from the class of 2025. The 6-foot-8 forward from Massachusetts will attend Utah Prep for his senior year after playing for Prolific Prep for his junior year.
Many top programs across the nation are in contention to land the five-star recruit. Dybantsa made official visits to Auburn and USC, as well as an unofficial visit to BYU. The five-star recruit talked about his visits to these three programs.
"(The visit) was good," AJ Dybantsa said about his visit to BYU, as per On3. "(Coach Kevin Young) wants to get me back on an official and take me through the whole visit profile and what he has in store for me. (BYU) is three hours away from Utah Prep so it’s kind of far but it was good, seeing the campus, the overall view, the gyms and everything."
He further spoke about Auburn and USC and his OVs to these schools.
"(Bruce Pearl) was here this weekend and I saw him in Istanbul," the forward said. "I went on a visit (Auburn). It was more of the same, what he has in store for me, and what he thinks I can be. When I went on a visit there (USC), it was with the old staff. But (Eric) Musselman also reached out and offered me."
Other schools in the running to sign Dybantsa are Duke, Arkansas, Baylor, Alabama and Kentucky.
AJ Dybantsa transfers to Utah Prep for his senior year
As per his announcement in May, AJ Dybantsa will play for the Utah Prep in his senior year. He played for Prolific Prep in California last year.
Dybantsa had a great summer playing for the Oakland Soldiers in the Nike EYBL. Through their first 10 games, Dybantsa led his team to a 9-1 record while averaging 23.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game while shooting 54.8%, including 39.3% from 3-point range and 81.6% from the free-throw line.
Many top programs like BYU, Kentucky, Duke, and Baylor are vying to sign the five-star small forward. However, the Auburn Tigers are the favorites to land the coveted 6-foot-8 forward with a 37.2% chance of signing him, as per On3's prediction model. USC is a close second with a 32.6% chance.
