No. 1 South Carolina prospect Jordon Gidron reclassifies to the class of 2025 and announces his commitment: Reports

Four-star wide receiver Jordon Gidron, a standout in the 2026 recruiting class, has committed to South Carolina and plans to reclassify to the 2025 class.

Gidron is ranked No. 41 overall in ESPN’s 2026 class. South Carolina, located close to his hometown, has been a frequent destination for Gidron, who was recruited by wide receivers coach Mike Furrey.

His visit to a South Carolina-LSU game left a strong impression.

“The atmosphere at South Carolina was electric!” Gidron told On3. “The energy in the stadium was definitely high, the game was close, all the recruits were really into the game. Willy B is always a great experience!"

Gidron praised coach Beamer's leadership and Furrey's development of the players, both of which played a significant role in his decision.

“The Gamecocks continue to excite me as a program because I can see how Coach (Shane) Beamer is developing them as a team and I like how Coach Furrey is developing his players.”

Gidron chose the Gamecocks over an impressive list of suitors, including Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Florida State, North Carolina, LSU and Tennessee.

Before reclassifying to the 2025 class, Gidron was regarded as South Carolina’s top 2026 prospect. He was ranked No. 64 overall and the No. 10 wide receiver nationally, according to On3’s Industry Ranking.

This latest commitment makes Jordon Gidron the fourth wide receiver to join South Carolina's 2025 class, alongside Lex Cyrus, Brian Rowe and Jayden Sellers. Gidron acknowledged the Gamecocks’ persistence in his recruitment, stating:

"South Carolina has been the school that has recruited me the hardest," Gidron told 247 Sports. "Coach Beamer and Coach Furrey have stayed in constant contact with me, letting me know they really want me at South Carolina and them building that relationship with me really means a lot."

Gamecocks continue recruiting momentum with Jordon Gidron’s reclassification

Jordon Gidron, originally ranked as ESPN’s No. 7 wide receiver in the 2026 class, is a 6-foot-2 wideout from Ridge View High School in Columbia, South Carolina. He had an impressive offseason, attending camps at Auburn, Alabama and Georgia, and making unofficial visits to North Carolina and N.C. State.

His commitment comes shortly after attending South Carolina's 36-33 loss to LSU on September 14. Last season, Gidron posted 45 catches for 731 yards and 10 touchdowns. In just three games this year, he’s recorded 17 receptions for 121 yards, rushed for 27 yards and a touchdown, as per MaxPreps.com.

Gidron will make his third visit to the Williams-Brice Stadium when he attends the South Carolina-Ole Miss game on Saturday. Reflecting on his decision, he said:

"I'm from Columbia and have been a huge Gamecocks fan all my life, so getting to play for a team I love will be amazing."

He also expressed excitement about potentially playing with quarterback LaNorris Sellers and under the guidance of wide receivers coach Mike Furrey.

"I'm definitely excited to play for Coach Furrey. With his level of experience, the possibility of playing early and having LaNorris as a QB is a win – it's really a great fit."

Jordon Gidron joins a South Carolina 2025 recruiting class that includes another ESPN-ranked wide receiver, Lex Cyrus. It also has four-star safety pledges Damarcus Leach and Kendal Daniels Jr. Before Gidron’s commitment, the Gamecocks’ class was ranked No. 35 in ESPN’s latest 2025 rankings.
