Oklahoma Sooners' recruiting: 4-star recruit commits to Porter Moser's program
Oklahoma Sooners head coach Porter Moser has landed a massive commitment from the class of 2025, as four-star center prospect Kai Rogers has committed to Oklahoma University. He is currently ranked No. 79 in the ESPN 100.
The 6-10, 240-pound center is also ranked the No. 92 overall recruit by 247Sports and he is now the third commitment from the class of 2025 for the Oklahoma Sooners, joining fellow 2025 class recruits Alec Blair and Andreas Holst. The Atlanta, Georgia native currently plays for Overtime Elite.
Rogers also had Iowa State and SMU in his final three but chose to commit to Coach Moser's program in the end. The big burly center also commented on what he brings to the Sooners once he plays for them.
"I can be their five-guy. I can play inside and out and they won't play through me but I will be a big part of their offense and my defensive skills are another reason they want me," he stated.
He also noted that he can help the Sooners bring in more energy on the court. He added that he can also act as a leader, saying that he feels like he can lead the team.
The Oklahoma Sooners have had some problems underneath the rim and the team is hoping that Kai Rogers could help with those woes. He has been noted to have an inside presence and defend the basket well.
ESPN analyst Paul Biancardi comments on Kai Rogers committing to the Oklahoma Sooners
As Sports Center Next's Instagram page revealed Kai Rogers committing to the Sooners, ESPN hoops analyst Paul Biancardi commented on what the center could do.
"My analysis on Kai Rogers: He scores at a 69% clip with his back to the basket, according to Synergy Sports, and he gets points with post-up moves and proper angles. He's a true big man with the ability to make and maintain contact in high-low actions with extremely good hands and finishing ability. His conditioning is good, but it can take another step forward. Rogers will punish opponents in the paint and on the blocks. Great pickup for Oklahoma and @oucoachmoser!" commented Paul Biancardi.
Rogers has been called a "throwback player" as a big man because he likes to play from the post, unlike more "modern" big men.
He is not a stretch four or a stretch five big, as most young players of his height are, but he is considered a true center, as noted by Sooners Wire's Bryant Crews.
