Onis Konanbanny sets the date of his commitment as 4-star CB decides between two talent powerhouses

Onis Konanbanny, a highly sought-after four-star cornerback in the 2025 recruiting class, has scheduled his college commitment announcement for August 23, 2024. The talented athlete will decide between two prominent programs: Florida State and the Tennessee Volunteers.

In June, Konanbanny visited Knoxville, Tennessee, and returned on July 27 for the "Big Orange Kickoff" event. These visits have influenced his views on the Vols program. Florida State, with its rich football history and strong defensive program, remains a strong contender.

“Florida State and Tennessee are the schools I am down to. Florida State offered a little later than Tennessee, but they have been recruiting me for a long time and I have strong relationships with the coaches there like I do at Tennessee," Onis Konanbanny said via On3.

Ranking as the No. 298 overall prospect and No. 29 cornerback in the 2025 class by 247Sports Composite, Konanbanny also holds the No. 4 spot for rising seniors in South Carolina.

Reflecting on his official visit to Tennessee, Onis Konanbanny added:

"It was special ... this week was that special. I've been here a whole bunch of times, so I kind of had a feel for the place already. It was really to get my mom to get a feel for the place, but the surprises and everything they had set up for me on this official visit, it was second to none. It was really fun and special for me."

Onis Konanbanny nears decision: Florida State and Tennessee await commitment of 4-star CB

With official visits to Florida State, North Carolina, and LSU last month, Konanbanny has narrowed his choices down to Florida State and Tennessee.

His first official visit was in April, when he traveled to Utah. Since late May, Konanbanny has made four trips to Knoxville, where he received his first SEC scholarship offer in March 2023.

Discussing Florida State with On3, Konanbanny expressed his admiration for coach Mike Norvell, saying:

“I love Mike Norvell. How he treated me and my family on the official visit made a big impact on me. He stayed with me the entire time, he showed me a lot about who he is as a person and that meant a lot to me. He develops defensive backs and he knows how to coach his players. Then Florida State has a great environment and it offers a great degree.”

Regarding Tennessee, Onis Konanbanny highlighted the significance of the Vols being his first offer.

“Tennessee was my first offer, so they started everything for me," he said. "They have been high on my list from the start. They have been great since they offered and I know everyone on the staff.
"I have been up there a lot and I love the environment, the people, the mountains, the water and just being there. Then it is not too far from my support system too. Overall, I like the people and the fit at Tennessee.”

According to the On3 Industry Ranking, Onis Konanbanny is the No. 338 overall prospect and No. 33 cornerback in the 2025 cycle. He is also the No. 4 player in South Carolina.

The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine currently trends in favor of Tennessee, which has hosted Konanbanny six times.
