Oregon Ducks QB flip target Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele breaks Hawaiian high school football record
Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele, a four-star quarterback from Hawaii, became the state's all-time leader in passing yards. He did it against the Kapolei Hurricanes in a 49-43 win on Friday.
The California commit breached the mark of 10,048 passing yards set by Oregon QB Dillion Gabriel in 2018. Sagapolutele now has 10,246 yards and still has a chance to add to his total in the playoffs.
Sagapolutele has completed 65.0% of his pass attempts and has a 113-29 touchdown to interception ratio for his career at Campbell. He is tied with Timmy Chang for the most TD passes in state history.
He is ranked No.167 nationally and the No. 12 quarterback in the Class of 2025, as per On3. He is also the No. 1 prospect from Hawaii.
Sagapolutele received interest from some of the best CFB programs in the country. However, he chose the California Golden Bears over Oregon State, Boise State, Utah State, Hawaii, Washington and Colorado, among others.
Oregon in play to flip four-star quarterback Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele
Oregon is aggressively pursuing California commit Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele. Dan Lanning and the Ducks hosted Sagapolutele during their game against the Illinois Fighting Illini on Oct. 27.
Although Sagapolutele is committed to California, he still visited multiple schools. His stock has seen a steady rise this year after he led the Campbell Sabres to an unbeaten record of 9-0 and broke the state's all-time passing yards record.
The Ducks are competing against other programs including Oregon State and Boise State, as per On3. Sagapolutele talked about the Ducks following his visit.
"The players look like they are fully bought into what Coach Lanning is building and the offense the quarterback has full command and is in control of protections," Sagapolutele said, via SI.
The Ducks' Class of 2025 is ranked No.10 in the country, as per 247Sports. They have landed 15 commitments so far, including three five-star recruits: Dakorien Moore, Dallas Wilson and Brandon Finney.
Oregon is enjoying a great season as it holds a 9-0 (6-0 Big Ten) record and ranked No. 1 in the AP Top 25 Poll.
