Oregon Ducks signee Dakorien Moore shares 3-word reaction to his teammate being presented a national honor by Cowboys' Trevon Diggs
Trevon Diggs, the Dallas Cowboys cornerback, presented a prestigious national honor to Keelon Russell, a high school standout quarterback from Duncanville, Texas. Following the momentous occasion on Tuesday, Dakorien Moore, Russell's teammate and a five-star wide receiver, highlighted their strong bond by sharing an Instagram story with an enthusiastic caption:
"Nah this fye 🎸🎸"
Trevon Diggs, who presented the award, spoke highly of Russell's character during an interview with Bleacher Report on Tuesday. He emphasized the leadership qualities Russell brings to his team, saying:
"For me, it was a great experience seeing how his teammates rally around him and have his back. It was encouraging to see what type of leader he is for his football team. It shows a lot about how he is on and off the field. That's going to take him a long way, he works hard for it. This is a special award, and in Texas at that. A football state."
Notably, Russell is the first player from Duncanville High School and the first Alabama football recruit to claim this coveted accolade. Reflecting on the honor, he shared:
"I was surprised. Coach called me up, I was just like, 'Coach, what are we doing?' Seeing him walking up and seeing the trophy, I was blown away. It was an amazing moment. I'm blessed. To have my name printed on this trophy means everything to me." [h/t Bleacher Report]
Moore, who signed with Oregon during the Early Signing Period on Dec. 4, capped his senior season with 65 receptions, 1,303 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Trevon Diggs praises Russell, as he earns national recognition, set to thrive at Alabama
Trevon Diggs has high expectations for Keelon Russell. After presenting Russell with a prestigious national honor, Diggs expressed confidence in his future at Alabama:
"I've definitely been talking to him and giving him advice. I see what kind of kid he is, he's going to do really well at Alabama. He fits the culture, he has the drive, he has the hunger."
Russell’s talent places him among an elite group of past award recipients, including NFL greats Peyton Manning and Emmitt Smith.
Russell also shared his thoughts on the Crimson Tide missing the College Football Playoff, with SMU taking the final spot. Speaking to Bleacher Report, he remarked:
"I'm very biased about it. I guess you can say people want to see what SMU is going to do, but I feel like when you have the team we have, you have to let them shine. … But we're coming back next year stronger because of it. We're coming back strong for sure."
In his senior year, Russell completed 70% of his passes, racking up 3,874 yards, 53 touchdowns and only four interceptions. His career totals are equally impressive, boasting a 72% completion rate for 7,141 yards, 88 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
