Alvin Henderson, a four-star running back from Elba High School, became the 12th player ever to reach the mark of 10,000 career rushing yards on Friday. He reached this landmark when his Elba High School took on Verbena in the first round of the playoffs.
Henderson joined the likes of Derrick Henry and Kelvin Taylor in the list of players with more than 10,000 rushing yards in high school. The last player to make the list before Henderson was LSU running back Treyvion Holly, who achieved the feat in 2022.
Henderson took to Instagram and shared multiple photos of his record-breaking night. The Auburn commit received a lot of love from various sports outlets for his incredible achievement. He shared most of those posts on his Instagram stories.
Thanks to Henderson and the team's offense, Elba made light work of Verbena. The 5-post-9 rusher ripped out a 50-yard touchdown run early in the game, propelling the Tigers to a 42-0 lead in the first half. Elba eventually won the game 77-14 and will take on the Linden Patriots from Alabama in their next game.
Alvin Henderson is currently ranked No. 125 in the country and is the 6th-best running back in the Class of 2025, as per On3. He is also the 8th-best overall prospect from the state of Alabama.
Alvin Henderson flipped his commitment to the Auburn Tigers in June
The four-star running back, Alvin Henderson, announced his commitment to the Penn State Nittany Lions in April 2024. However, the 5-9 rusher decided to flip his commitment to Auburn just a few months later, in June.
Henderson initially chose Penn State over other top programs such as Auburn, Alabama, Florida State and Miami. He spoke about his decision to flip his commitment and called Auburn his home.
"Auburn is home," Henderson said, as per Auburn Live. "I really appreciate Penn State and I love it up there and their coaches, but Auburn is home. It always has been."
He also had high praise for the Tigers' head coach, Hugh Freeze, and his coaching staff.
"The way (Hugh Freeze) and the staff recruits me has made a big impact on me," the Alabama native said. "Coach Freeze wants me in his system and I like how he talks to me about life and football."
Auburn's Class of 2025 is currently ranked as the fifth-best class in the country, as per 247Sports. They have landed 27 commits so far and will look to add more down the stretch.
