Chris Henry Jr., the son of late NFL wide receiver Chris Henry, had a touching birthday message for his younger brother, DeMarcus Henry. On his Instagram stories Tuesday, Chris Jr. posted collages filled with pictures of the two brothers, with the message:
"Happy birthday baby boy, big 16. Proud of u family! Keep elevating, love ya kid @demarcushenry."
Demarcus is a standout 6-foot-6 small forward at Santa Ana’s Mater Dei High School and a highly-ranked basketball recruit in the Class of 2027. The family’s athletic legacy also extends to their sister, Seini Hicks, a top-tier girls’ basketball player in the Class of 2024.
At 6-foot-6, 180 pounds, Chris Henry Jr. is a highly regarded five-star high school football recruit in the Class of 2027. He currently plays as a small forward for Mater Dei High School after transferring there in early 2024.
Before his move to Mater Dei, Chris played the 2023 season at Cincinnati Withrow, where he earned all-state honors by racking up an impressive 1,127 receiving yards and scoring 10 touchdowns over 71 receptions in 14 games.
Oregon Ducks persist in recruiting 5-star WR Chris Henry Jr.
The Oregon Ducks are pushing hard to secure 2026 five-star wide receiver Chris Henry Jr., who currently plays for Santa Ana’s Mater Dei High School in California.
Though Henry is verbally committed to Ohio State. In an interview with ScoopDuck, Henry shared insight into his recruiting process and his ongoing conversations with Oregon.
“I talk to Coach (Junior) Adams and Coach (Dan) Lanning all the time,” Henry said. “I still have a great relationship with them. They let me know every time that they want me to come there. It’s a lot of love there.”
Although Henry hasn’t visited Oregon since attending its "Saturday Night Live" camp in July, he remains open to returning to Eugene.
“Oh yeah, most definitely," Henry said. "They’re definitely trying to get me up there all the time—my teammates, everybody’s trying to get me up there. Most likely gonna get up there a couple times.”
Despite Oregon's push, Ohio State has retained Henry's commitment.
“I’ve been loving what I’ve been seeing as I expected,” Henry said of Ohio State’s season. “Had a tough one, but it’s all good we’ll bounce back for sure.”
The Buckeyes' only loss this year came in a thrilling 32-31 matchup against Oregon. He has one trip planned this season: Ohio State’s rivalry game against Michigan on Nov. 30.
Beyond Oregon and Ohio State, Henry also has SEC schools like Alabama, Texas, Tennessee and USC vying for his attention. Unfortunately, Henry’s season at Mater Dei was cut short due to injuries in his second game, where he tore his LCL and hamstring against Bishop Gorman.
