Ryan Day's Ohio State lands commitment of 4-star IOL Jayvon McFadden to the class of 2025

Ohio State's football program, led by coach Ryan Day, secured a commitment from Jayvon McFadden, a 4-star interior offensive lineman. McFadden opted for the Buckeyes over several top-tier programs, including South Carolina, Maryland, and Colorado.

Standing at 6'3.5" and weighing 270 pounds, McFadden is ranked as the No. 31 interior offensive lineman and the No. 395 overall prospect in the 2025 recruiting class by On3. His commitment marks the third addition to Ohio State’s offensive line group for the 2025 cycle, joining fellow offensive linemen Carter Lowe and Jake Taylor.

McFadden’s connection with Ohio State strengthened over multiple visits to Columbus, with the official visit on the weekend of June 7 playing a pivotal role. Reflecting on his time in Columbus, McFadden said (via On3):

“Columbus was good, man. It’s always good to get down there and just feel the vibe with Coach Day and Coach Frye. But this right here, this was probably my best one yet. This one right here, it kind of just let me know exactly how they feel about me. And how I fit the system at Ohio State.”

The visit wasn’t just significant for McFadden; it also provided his family with a chance to experience the Ohio State atmosphere firsthand.

“It was great, man. I couldn’t even really put it into words. The energy was there and it was just an overall good visit. My family liked it. It was an overall good visit for us,” McFadden added.
“It was just about how Coach Day and Coach Frye made me feel like I’m a priority for Ohio State. They want me there and they don’t want me anywhere else.”

Jayvon McFadden joins Ohio State's growing 2025 offensive line recruits

Jayvon McFadden's commitment to Ohio State follows the recent announcement of Will Howard as the Buckeyes' starting quarterback for 2024. Ohio State initially extended an offer to McFadden in November after he visited for the Buckeyes' victory against Michigan State.

He also attended their spring game and made an official visit on the weekend of June 7. Carter Lowe, a four-star commit from Toledo, expressed enthusiasm about potentially playing alongside McFadden.

“My boy, that’s my guy,” Lowe said in June. “He loves ball, just like me... It would be crazy and really, really fun to play next to him.”

With the commitments of Jayvon McFadden, Lowe, and three-star center Jake Cook, Ohio State's 2025 offensive line is starting to form.
