Sherrone Moore's Michigan offers scholarship to four-star TE Israel Briggs to the Class of 2026
Michigan's football team may be battling through a challenging season with a 5-4 record, but first-year coach Sherrone Moore and his staff are going full throttle on the recruiting front. Four-star tight end Israel Briggs is one of the highly promising players to receive an offer from the Wolverines.
The 2026 class prospect shared the news on X on Friday, tagging Michigan tight end coach Steve Casula and assistant director of recruiting Jack Dunaway.
"I’m very blessed to receive an offer from The University of Michigan!!!💙💛 @Jack_Dunaway96 @Coach_Casula @BrandonHuffman @recruitcoachmc @GregBiggins @ChadSimmons."
Michigan has made waves in the last few days with some notable recruiting successes as four-star defensive lineman Benny Patterson flipped from Cincinnati to the Wolverines on Friday. Shortly afterward, four-star cornerback Shamari Earls decommitted from Georgia to commit to Michigan.
Even after these high-profile flips, Moore isn’t ready to slow down his recruitment. While five-star LSU quarterback commit Bryce Underwood remains a top goal for the 2025 class, Michigan is also targeting prospects for its 2026 class. This cycle has three committed players and ranks No. 14 in the nation.
Besides Briggs, Michigan is actively pursuing other four-star tight ends like Jack Janda, Lincoln Keyes, Brayden Fogle, Caleb Tafua, Ian Premer, Mack Sutter, Javar Bowden and Corbyn Fordham for its 2026 class.
Israel Briggs opens up about recent offer from Alabama
Israel Briggs received an offer from Alabama last week. Speaking with Touchdown Alabama, he shared his excitement about the offer:
“This offer means the world to me because you know as a younger kid Alabama has always been one of those programs you just look up at."
Israel Briggs also had high praise for Alabama's offense, describing it as "electric":
“You have to stay on your toes. They just have so many weapons," Briggs said.
Alabama achieved a commitment from four-star interior defensive lineman Vodney Cleveland in the 2026 class last week. The standout from Parker High School in Birmingham, Alabama, is the No. 80 overall player in the nation and No. 6 defensive lineman, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. He joined four-star cornerback Dorian Barney in the class.
