Sherrone Moore's "not done" message following new DL commitment fuels Michigan's push to flip Bryce Underwood

Maliha

Four-star defensive lineman Benny Patterson flipped his commitment from Cincinnati to Michigan on Friday, amid the Wolverines' pursuit of five-star LSU quarterback commit Bryce Underwood. After the successful flipping move of Peterson, Michigan coach Sherrone Moore delivered a cryptic post on X:

"Yes Sir ! Big time get for our defense ! #GoBlue🔵 #NotDone."

Patterson committed to Cincinnati back on April 22, but Michigan had been working to flip him from the Bearcats and those efforts were successful.

The standout from Castle High School in Newburgh, Indiana, is ranked the No. 659 overall prospect in the nation as well as the No. 75 defensive lineman in the 2025 class, according to 247Sports. His commitment is definitely a big achievement and Moore's excitement is justified.

But that "not done" hashtag once again ignited Michigan's continuous effort to flip Underwood from LSU. He has remained committed to the Tigers since January but Michigan has been working hard to sway him away ahead of signing day.

As Michigan insider EJ Holland noted on the “On3 Recruits” platform last week, the Wolverines are now adopting a stronger NIL-based approach, one that could potentially exceed $5 million over three to four years. Pete Nakos of On3 also suggested that the school's NIL strategy could play a big role in securing Underwood’s commitment.

The Wolverines added five-star offensive tackle Andrew Babalola just two weeks ago, and if they manage to secure Underwood, they might form a powerful core for future Michigan squads.

Paired with other promising recruits on offense like tight end Andrew Olesh and wide receiver Andrew Marsh, the 2025 class could be one of their strongest yet and could give the defending champion program another winning season.

LSU OC in attendance to see Bryce Underwood shine

Bryce Underwood shone once again this Friday when LSU offensive coordinator Joe Sloan watched his playoff game. Underwood’s Belleville squad easily defeated Ann Arbor Pioneer in a 68-0 first-round win in the Michigan high school football playoffs. Underwood threw five touchdown passes in the first half and finished with six.

Throughout seven games of the season, Underwood recorded 1477 passing yards and 19 touchdowns for just one interception, per MaxPreps. He also rushed for 427 yards and scored three more scores.

Bryce Underwood plans to visit LSU officially next weekend as the Tigers take on Alabama.
