“Somebody please tell him”: CFB fans react hysterically as 4-star RB Shekai Mills-Knight commits to Ole Miss to win a natty

Ole Miss football is making strides in the recruiting landscape with the addition of Tennessee running back Shekai Mills-Knight to their 2025 recruiting class. Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 217 pounds, the four-star prospect from Baylor School in Chattanooga is ranked as the No. 17 running back and the No. 6 overall player in Tennessee according to the 247Sports Composite.

Nationally, he is listed as the No. 252 recruit in the 2025 cycle. Mills-Knight chose Ole Miss over an impressive list of suitors, including Alabama, Auburn, Miami, and Tennessee, among others.

Shekai Mills-Knight also reported interest from powerhouses like Florida, Michigan, Ohio State and Oregon. Despite a late surge from Auburn, Mills-Knight ultimately decided that the SEC program in Oxford was the best fit for him.

“If you want to win a Natty & get developed come to the Sip. Hotty Toddy!”. Ole Miss has always been high on my list, and that never changed,” Mills-Knight shared with On3.
“Auburn made a strong push after my official visit, but I knew Ole Miss was the right place for me. From my relationship with coach Kevin Smith to the vibe I get on campus and how I’ll be used in the offense – Ole Miss has everything I’m looking for.”

Fans, however, were quick to react to Mills-Knight’s ambitious goal of winning a national championship at Ole Miss. One fan commented:

"The same Sip that hasn’t been close to a Natty in the recent past. Yeah, that’s the place to be."
"Ole Miss and Natty – somebody please tell him," another fan said.

Here is how other fans expressed their reaction on the social media platform:

"I love Lane nad have respect for Ole Miss, but the last time Ole Miss won a Natty, smoking was considered healthy." a fan said.
"AK Dear to Bama guaranteed on the 20th," one fan said.

Shekai Mills-Knight is the 15th recruit in Ole Miss’s 2025 class, which ranked 34th nationally before his commitment. His decision comes after the decommitment of five-star Mississippi running back Akylin Dear, who is now choosing between Ole Miss, Alabama and Mississippi State.

Shekai Mills-Knight feels at home with Ole Miss: “It’s about family”

Shekai Mills-Knight’s commitment to Ole Miss was no surprise, given his deep connection with the program. He visited Oxford six times, with his most recent trip in late July. Each visit left him with the same strong impression of the school.

“Ole Miss believed in me before I was even ranked,” Mills-Knight shared (per On3). “While other schools started recruiting me after I gained recognition, Ole Miss was there from the beginning. Their early belief in me and the relationships they built played a significant role in my decision.”

Mills-Knight described Ole Miss as feeling like home, noting the family-oriented atmosphere.

“The coaches’ kids running around, the fun the staff has – it’s all about family at Ole Miss,” he said. “I know college football is a business, but Ole Miss makes it fun, and that’s important to me.”

Shekai Mills-Knight is recognized as a four-star recruit by On3 and Rivals, though 247Sports and ESPN rate him as a three-star.
