Texas QB Arch Manning's elite play style dates back to high school junior days at New Orleans
Arch Manning, nephew of NFL icons Peyton and Eli Manning, has long captured the football world’s attention with his standout performances. As a junior at Isidore Newman High School in New Orleans, Manning led his team to an 11-1 season, culminating in a Division III semifinal appearance in Louisiana’s playoffs.
During his high school years, Manning maintained pinpoint accuracy and efficient decision-making, whilst being an excellent athlete. His accuracy in feeding the ball to players well was the key strength of his and the ability to run the plays for the ball was a secondary creative.
In a post on Instagram, MaxPreps shared a highlight reel showcasing some of the most impressive plays from Arch Manning's junior season at Isidore Newman High School in New Orleans.
In 2019, as a freshman, he threw for 2,509 yards, and 34 touchdowns, and won the honor of the MaxPreps National Freshman of the Year. During his four years in high school, he scored 137 touchdowns in total. He managed to throw the ball in and on 115 occasions.
Manning was a great hit in his starting season when he threw for 6 six touchdowns against East Jefferson. For nearly four years, he hit 64.5% of his passes and threw for 8,539 yards, while he also had 748 yards rushing and 19 touchdowns.
Arch Manning's debut as Texas starter, dominant win over Louisiana-Monroe
Arch Manning, the Texas redshirt freshman, had his starting debut when the Longhorns soared to a 51-3 win over Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday night, playing in front of a crowd of 102,850 at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.
Manning completed 15 of 29 passes, throwing for 258 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. He played through the third quarter before being replaced by true freshman Trey Owens in the fourth. Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian noted,
“He took his shots. We hit them and missed a couple,” Sarkisian said (per the New York Post). “Lessons learned. That’s what tonight was about.”
Additionally, Jaydon Blue, the running back, also gave a blast performance, rushing 25 times for 124 yards and scoring three touchdowns. Sarkisian praised the return to form of Blue and remarked,
“It was great to have Jaydon Blue back,” Texas coach Steve Sarkisian said. “He’s a weapon. He can get to the edge, but a lot of his yards are between the tackles.
Arch Manning stepped in for injured starter Quinn Ewers, recovering from an oblique strain sustained the previous week in a win over UTSA. Manning expressed both excitement and humility after the game, acknowledging areas for improvement.
“Obviously there’s a lot to improve on, stuff that I want back, but it’s a good first win,” Manning said.
The previous week, Manning had come off the bench to throw five touchdowns in a victory over UTSA after Ewers’ injury.
