This fan did not seem happy with Dybantsa's move to BYU as they wrote, "Imagine being number 1 and picking BYU if they didn’t have money or offer him a bag he ain’t going there 100%😂😂 miss the old times where people played for passion and the sport and not for money🤦♂️🤦♂️."
More fans added to the money conversation, while a few refuted it.
"You hear the money counter in the back. He already sign a crazy deal with Red Bull, plus this he been up . He could be the number 1 in this year NBA draft he’s different," commented a fan.
This fan defended Dybantsa and opposed others who talked about the money saying, "I mean yall can talk about 💵 all you want but why wouldnt the No.1 hs player in the country not deserve it? he's amazing on court, wise beyond his years and knows how to handle himself. I like this kids attitude too."
"NIL really changing the landscape of sports but ain’t nuin wrong with that," commented another fan.
Why did AJ Dybantsa choose BYU?
The 6-foot-9 small forward has always wanted to play in the NBA. While speaking with On3, Dybantsa stated that Kevin Young's NBA stint was something he considered.
“Kevin Young was an NBA coach, so he is telling me that he will bring a lot of NBA styles and concepts to the program. He told me that he thought he would be a good coach to help me get to that next level.
“It’s good that he has NBA experience. I mean, I’m trying to get to the NBA, so anyone that has NBA experience or anyone that has brought people to the NBA or coached in the NBA is going to have knowledge for that.
