Top 3 landing spots for Michael Terry III
#3. Nebraska Cornhuskers
Nebraska has made a strong push for Terry, with his visits to Lincoln being a significant part of his recruitment process. Terry attended a Huskers’ night game against Colorado and was impressed with the atmosphere.
“It was crazy! Players coaching staff and fans was hyped. The environment for the staff and players are good and every time I go they are improving things.”
This was his third trip to Nebraska this year. Michael Terry values the family culture coach Matt Rhule fosters. He also feels the program is trending in the right direction.
“I really believe they’re going to start winning again. And not because of two wins, but the way they’re running the program is so organized and advanced.”
Nebraska frequently contacts Terry to ensure he feels valued.
"They were calling me a lot, almost every day. They're just trying to get me up there, and they really set the bar high on the OV. They really showed me that they really want me up there."
#2. Oregon Ducks
The Oregon Ducks are another top program vying for Terry’s commitment. Coach Dan Lanning and his staff have prioritized him throughout the recruiting process. Oregon's No. 7-ranked recruiting class has only a few remaining spots, with Terry among its key targets.
Oregon’s recruiting success in Texas, led by offensive coordinator Will Stein, is another reason the Ducks remain in the Michael Terry race. While discussions center around him playing running back, his athleticism makes him an option at wide receiver or tight end, positions the Ducks have struggled with.
#1. Texas Longhorns
The Texas Longhorns appear to be the frontrunners in Terry’s recruitment. He has a strong connection with the program and has already visited Austin for the Texas Bash event in July.
Michael Terry praised the coaching staff, particularly running backs coach Tashard Choice, and noted that some of his former high school teammates play for Texas.
“Going over things with Coach (Tashard Choice). Watching them practice and seeing my ex-high school teammates, and showing me how they work to evaluate the new guys. Explaining what they are looking for and what they would look to get from me were good takeaways that helped me understand exactly what I’ll be doing and how I’ll handle working with different position coaches on getting development for multiple positions. ”
Michael Terry III is a Texas 5A regional qualifier in track. As a junior, he posted a 49.45 in the 400 meters, along with impressive times in the 100 and 200 meters. In football, Terry earned District 13-5A MVP honors in 2023, rushing for 995 yards and 20 touchdowns while adding 564 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns.
